Rooster Teeth is back… right? Today, we got some news that Rooster Teeth is returning and under new management. As we see “Homecoming” on the Morning Somewhere podcast.
Rooster Teeth and Morning Somewhere
It was announced on the Morning Somewhere podcast by Burnie Burns and Ashley that they have acquired Rooster Teeth. In the Press Release, Burnie mentions that he is happy to be able to “return Rooster Teeth to its roots.” Burnie goes on to say that this is not RT, the shows and the channels are gone and sold off to the shared people. Burnie Burns was a former chief creative officer of Rooster Teeth before he left to move to Scotland in 2020 with his family, then founded Box Canyon in 2023 with the podcast Morning Somewhere with his wife, Ashley Jenkins.
In their Homecoming video, we see Joel Heyman, the voice of Michael J. Caboose in Red vs Blue, “return from getting milk” to see the studio empty. It was emotional hearing that old voice again, but good to see the humor still exists despite everything. After Warner Bros. Discovery bought them, WBD decided to shut them down and sell off their popular attractions as they didn’t see RT making any kind of new profit. Over 150 employees, contracts, and help were affected by the shutdown. It’s unfortunate to say that hits like RWBY, RvB, and other hits, are basically lost to the winds at the moment.
Since we won’t have concrete info if anything is returning to how it was, Morning Somewhere did mention that they will hold a Q&A on their Patreon for their next podcast to answer everyone’s questions. Then make it live on Monday for everyone not on their Patreon to listen to.
Final Thoughts
As sad as it is for the previous stuff not to return, it’s a glorious day that RT will be returning in some shape or form. As one who grew up with them, it brings me joy to see them back in good hands. As a huge fan of them, I know Burns will make them back to who they were and, most importantly, return them to their roots as he so desires.
Burns understands that Rooster Teeth made fans through whatever they wrote and that it reached out and inspired them to do the same. I wish them the best of luck and can only hope to see them return to the status they once achieved and held. It’s safe to say that a new chapter is dawning for them, and, hopefully, a brighter future back in the limelight.
