Summer Game Fest dropped the trailer to surprise the audience, generating screams from the crowd. In the trailer, the protagonist, Grace,  is investigating a mysterious disease that has killed four victims. A man in shades approaches her and summons her to investigate a murder that was committed at the same place where her mother was killed, which seems to give her PTSD flashbacks. Then bam, she’s strapped to a gurney and no one is coming to help her. Other jump cuts show visuals such as blowing curtains, posters of missing people, and a giant crater in the ground.

What About the Gameplay?

The trailer is highly cinematic and could easily pass as a movie trailer, but it shows very little gameplay. However, since this is a Resident Evil game, we can expect classic survival horror gameplay and scares. However, the showcase also said that Capcom wants to take the series in a new direction with this game, so perhaps there will be some surprises in the gameplay. Fans might be hoping that the game doesn’t become like Resident Evil 6 and change everything they love about the series; however, so let’s hope this game retains love for what the series means.

Conclusion

The game will be released on February 27, 2026, and you can bet that fans will be eagerly awaiting the release. The trailer looks like the game will be full of mystery and psychological chills, along with stunning graphics. Capcom’s surprise trailer drop was a special treat for fans, so here’s hoping that they can follow up on their promise when the release date comes.
