Today’s Faith: Getting Past Pain, Moving Forward In Christ
Today’s Faith requires you to start getting past pain and believing healing is still possible. Today we travel to Philippians 3:13–14.
We don’t always talk about what it takes to truly start getting past pain. Some wounds are loud, while others are quiet and lingering, showing up in our reactions, our relationships, and even in our prayers. Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting what happened. It means learning to live forward with faith instead of dragging our brokenness through every tomorrow. God isn’t asking you to deny what hurt you. He’s calling you to trust that His grace can reframe what happened and rebuild what was torn. Healing doesn’t erase the past, but it rewrites its power over you. The journey of getting past pain is slow at times, but God is never in a rush to move on from your heart.

How Faith Helps with Getting Past Pain
Pain lingers when we think we have to carry it alone. But today, we don’t. Scripture reminds us that “forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,” we press on. That doesn’t mean denying the past. It means redefining it. Getting past pain doesn’t come by burying emotions or pretending it didn’t happen. It comes through naming it, grieving it, and surrendering it to God. That takes courage, prayer, and sometimes the support of trusted friends, counselors, or pastors. God does not want your pain to be your identity. His desire is that you walk healed, even if the scar remains. We don’t erase our stories. But we invite the Healer to author the next chapters.
Bible Verse To Consider
Philippians 3:13–14 reads:
“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Getting Past Pain Through Liturgy
- Call: Lord, I carry pain I wish I didn’t.
Response: You promised to carry me through it and I trust in that. - Call: In Jesus name, I call out my hurt verbally and release it into His hands.
Response: You hold my story, write the chapters, and heal it with grace.
Today’s Prayer For Getting Past Pain
Father,
I’m coming to You today because I’m tired of carrying this. I’ve done my best to hold it together, to smile through it, to keep going like it didn’t still hurt. But You know the truth. You’ve seen every tear, every moment when the pain resurfaced. And You haven’t turned away from me once.
I know getting past pain isn’t about pretending it didn’t happen. It’s about learning to trust You with the parts of me I’ve tried to fix on my own. And Lord, I’m not there yet, but I want to be. I don’t want the weight of yesterday on my shoulders. I want to walk without fear from the past tagging along.
So today, I lay it down again. The memories. The regrets. The what-ifs. I’m asking You to take it from my hands, because I’ve carried it long enough. I believe You’re the kind of God who heals what time alone can’t. You’re the God who walks me forward when I’m stuck.
Help me take the next step. Show me that getting past pain doesn’t mean forgetting. It means trusting You to do something redemptive with it. Soften my heart. Teach me to forgive. Remind me You’re not in a rush. You’re just asking me to follow.
Thank You for loving me through the messy middle. Thank You for grace. Thankful for you giving it freely along with your peace. I love You, Lord. And I trust You with this.In Jesus’ name, Amen. What does your faith look like today? Reply below.
