“I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” In this daily devotion, we begin with a quote by the Apostle Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. Although Paul was a Jew, his preaching was rejected by those of his nation. However, refusing to be silenced, he embraced God’s call to go and teach all nations. Believers’ lives should be characterized by service. They should be willing to reach people who don’t look like them or share their zip code.

Labor Day is a day of appreciation for the hard work of our labor force by giving them a day of rest. But there is work that we should never rest from. In today’s daily devotion, let’s consider that work is making ourselves available to God by winning souls to Christ.

Be all Things

What does it mean to be made all things? Paul was willing to make himself a part of others’ lives. He was willing to identify with them by living among them, breaking bread, and making himself useful to them, however possible. He wanted them to know the gospel, but he also wanted their lives to be prosperous in every way. His mission trips took him to where they were, and he took part in their culture. He became their friend. Let’s think about being a friend to others in today’s daily devotion time.

Like Paul, we should want to see others escape the clutches of sin, receive salvation, and live a life of service unto God. Are you available to others so that you can win them to Christ? As Minister Jesse Duplantis always says, “The only Jesus people may see is the Jesus in you and the Jesus in me.” Be a vessel God can use to bring others into the Kingdom.

Serve Others

“Might” is not a term of doubt, but speaks of opportunity and perseverance. It speaks of faith in action. Paul doesn’t express maybes or uncertainties. He made himself a willing participant in the lives of those he sought to win to the Lord. What are you willing to do to win others? You can stand back and refuse to involve yourself with people whose culture is different. Or, you can embrace them confidently, knowing that they need the gospel of salvation. They need to receive Christ, and God can use you to make it possible.

We all have a purpose, something for which we were created. You should know your purpose, so seek God if you don’t. And be open to do what He calls you to do. The Bible declares that we must work while it’s day. In other words, use every opportunity you have to walk in your purpose. If it involves getting out there and meeting others, take the time to do that. In this daily devotion, commit to being open to let God use you. Make it a focus today.

Make Yourself Available

You might not consider yourself a people person, but go to whomever God may send you. The Bible says in Proverbs 11:30, he who wins souls is wise. So this work is for all believers. You may not be called to the mission field like Paul. Your call may be inside your own zip code, but wherever it is, answer the call. Be willing to work. In this daily devotion, meditate on doing God’s work.

Ananius was a regular person going about his business as a follower of Christ. The Lord appeared to him in a vision, telling him to go to a certain street in his city and minister to Saul, who later became Paul. Ananius expressed hesitancy at first because Saul was a serial persecutor of Christians. However, at God’s command, Ananius went. Paul accepted Christ and the call on his life. The rest is history.

Do the Work

Let’s not shy away from doing the Lord’s work. As a 12-year-old child in the temple at Jerusalem, Jesus said, “I must be about my Father’s business.” In your daily devotion, make that same profession. It may be Labor Day, and you may be basking in your day off from work. But keep in mind, you are called a co-laborer of Christ. You are called to His higher work. You never have an off day from becoming all things to win souls wherever He sends you.
