Daily Devotion For Tuesday Thoughts | January 6, 2026

Itโ€™s Tuesday, and time for your daily devotion. In Proverbs 4, Solomon continues with instructions on paying attention to wise words. In verse 21, Solomon says, โ€œLet them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. He warns to always keep wisdom before you, and more importantly, in your heart.ย In todayโ€™s daily devotion, determine to keep wisdom in your mind and heart.ย

Let Them Not Depart

Itโ€™s easy to let good things slip through the cracks. Keeping wisdom before you is a lifelong endeavor; many things will come to distract you or turn you away from the righteous path. You will have to consciously not let wisdom depart.

When Abigail meets David, her wisdom sets her apart. Her husbandโ€™s name, Nabal, means fool, and he acts recklessly, almost causing total annihilation to their household. Abigail steps in composed, dignified, and wise. She saves the day, Nabal dies, and David takes her as his bride. In your daily devotion, remember that wisdom always guides you in the right direction.

From Thine Eyes

Matthew 6:24 says, โ€œThe light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.โ€ When your focus is pure and sound, your direction is clear. Youโ€™re not easily persuaded by the things vying for your attention. Abigail could have stood by her husband, Nabal, who failed to recognize David as Godโ€™s chosen leader. However, she doesn’t let Nabalโ€™s foolishness stand in the way of right thinking.

After Nabal refuses to give Davidโ€™s men nourishment for their labor, Abigail takes them plenty to sustain them. Then David praises God, recognizing that He has sent Abigail to reconcile the situation. In 1 Samuel 25:33, David says, โ€œAnd blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.โ€ย  Take a moment in todayโ€™s daily devotion to thank God for making wisdom available to you.ย

Keep Them in the Midst

Wisdom isn’t to be adhered to randomly or if it’s convenient. Solomon declares that itโ€™s the principal thing; therefore, it should be highly valued and sought after above all other things. Abigail keeps her composure after her husband makes David his enemy. She takes measures to undo the damage Nabal caused.

Abigail knows, along with the nation of Israel, that David is the next king. Theyโ€™ve seen the kingdom slipping from Saulโ€™s hands and into Davidโ€™s. Because she follows wisdom, sheโ€™s able to act wisely, bringing peace to a turbulent situation. In your daily devotion, determine that you wonโ€™t let wisdom slip.

Of Thine Heart

Wisdom must be of the heart, which is another name for your spirit. Your spirit directs the things you do. When your heart leads you in the right paths, you will walk in righteousness. When the heart is evil because it lacks the light of truth, the pathway will be dark.

Nabal acted from the evil influences of his own heart. He then met with destruction because the evil road is a downward spiral, and there is no escape. The Bible says that sin leads to death, as in Nabal’s case. In Tuesdayโ€™s daily devotion, say this out loud: โ€œI will keep wisdom in my heart and remain on the path of life.

A Joyful Heart

In today’s daily devotion, you can say that when your heart is filled with God’s wisdom, you have joy. You gain many things by being in God’s presence, and in His presence, there is fullness of joy. As Solomon teaches, keep your eyes on wisdom and place it inside your heart.
