Daily Devotion Wednesday Wisdom | January 14, 2026

It’s mid-week Wednesday, and time for your daily devotion. In this Proverbs series, Solomon has taught us how to walk on the right path. In verse 27, he says, “Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. In your daily devotion, confess that you will keep a straight course and steer clear of evil.

Don’t Turn

Jesus gives us an example in the wilderness. After fasting for forty days and forty nights, the devil appears to Him to get Him to turn. First, he suggests that Jesus turn stones into bread to satisfy His hunger. But Jesus rebukes the enemy, telling him that man cannot live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Then the enemy tells Him to hurl Himself off the temple, saying angels would immediately catch Him.

Again, Jesus rebukes the devil, who misquotes Psalm 91:11-12, which was never meant to put God to a test. The devil’s final temptation was to offer Jesus the world’s kingdoms if He would fall and worship him. Jesus rebukes the enemy a third time, declaring that God alone is to be worshipped. In your daily devotion, proclaim that you won’t turn away from the righteous path.

To the Right Hand or the Left

Sometimes people veer off the path into religious practices. However, religion without a relationship is not how God intended to interact with humanity. The pathway of righteousness is a straight path. When Ezekiel saw a vision of God’s throne, he observed four living creatures who had wheels beside them, and they all moved in a straight course.

In Ezekiel 1:12, he says, “And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.” God’s example to us is always straight ahead, not turning to the right or left. In this daily devotion, declare that you’ll follow the Spirit by keeping a straight course.

Remove Your Foot

You’re to purposefully remove your foot from anything that doesn’t honor God. Psalm 1:1 states, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” You don’t walk with the unrighteous, take their counsel, or sit in their company. Just as Jesus refused the enemy’s temptations, you refuse as well. In today’s daily devotion, commit to staying on the path of righteousness by removing your foot from bad influences.

From Evil

In 1 Thessalonians 5:22, Paul instructs you to avoid the very appearance of evil. Don’t entertain it, but remove yourself. Jesus doesn’t play word games with the devil, but He rebukes him, giving him no option but to leave His presence.

Joseph is a slave in Egypt, serving the Egyptian officer Potiphar. He’s good-looking, and Potiphar’s wife desires a romance. In Genesis 39:9, Joseph refuses: “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” Joseph realizes this isn’t just an indiscretion; it’s evil and sinful against God. One day, she grabs him by the coat, and he removes his foot from evil by running out of it, leaving it in her grasp. In your daily devotion, say this out loud: “Whether the temptation is from Satan or man, I will stay on the righteous path.

Words of Life

In Wednesday’s daily devotion, rejoice that Solomon gives you words of life in Proverbs 4. He admonishes you not turn away from the straight path. Hopefully, this powerful chapter teaches you to walk in wisdom, walk righteously, and walk away from evil.
