Daily Devotion Monday Motivation | January 12, 2026
Happy Monday! Itโs time for your daily devotion. The new year is sailing along, and hopefully, youโre keeping your eyes on whatโs important. As Solomon focuses on the eyes, you see the importance of what your eyes look upon. In Proverbs 4:25, he says, โLet thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.โ In todayโs daily devotion, rejoice that your eyes are focused on good things.
Let Your Eyes
The eyes have been called the windows to your soul because what you spend time looking at determines who you are. Jesus declares, โThe light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.โ Your eyes give you vision and direction. It matters where they look. When you look to the things of God, youโre led by His Spirit. If the eyes are wayward and focused on evil, theyโll be led in that direction.
In Genesis 1:6, when the enemy enticed Eve to eat of the tree, she โsaw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes.โ Even though God said it was forbidden, her eyes considered it good and pleasant, and worthy of disobedience. Solomon says to let your eyes, implying you determine what they focus on. In your daily devotion, ensure your eyes focus on things that will lead you on the right path.
Look Right On
Your eyes should look at the right things. Every day, you choose between right and wrong things. 1 John 2:16 talks about โthe lust of the eyes,โ which comes from the world. The world presents temptations and lusts to lead you astray. In this daily devotion, know that not everything in the world is sinful, but too much concentration on things that donโt produce righteousness will lead you into wrong paths.
Abraham sent his servant to find a wife for Isaac in his home country. There, his servant encountered Rebekah, recognized her as the one, and gave her a golden earring and bracelets of gold. Then Laban, her brother, emerges. Genesis 24:30 says that โwhen he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister’s hands,โ he gladly invited him home, offering to take care of his needs. Later in Genesis, Labanโs covetousness is uncovered in his dealings with Jacob.
Let Thine Eyelids

Here, your eyelids are representative of your eyes, so Solomon uses repetition to teach the importance of focus. Itโs your responsibility to guard your eyes as well as your heart and mouth, as Solomon discusses earlier. These are not only physical aspects of your being, but they also symbolize spiritual growth, enlightenment, and maturity. Say in todayโs daily devotion that if your eyes arenโt focused on the right things, you wonโt grow spiritually.

Throughout scripture, youโre encouraged to stay on straight paths. Deuteronomy 5:32 talks about not turning โaside to the right hand or to the left,โ which means keeping a straight course. Jesus says in Matthew 7:14, โBecause strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.โ In this daily devotion, determine that you will keep your eyes straight on the things of God.
The Eyes Give Light
In today’s daily devotion, the importance of the eyes is emphasized. Your eyes give natural, as well as spiritual direction. Therefore, focusing on the right things and keeping them on the right path is essential to spiritual growth. Say this out loud today: “I will keep my eyes focused in the right direction!”
