It can be challenging to navigate the dating world, especially with how large the dating pool can be. Everyone wants different things in life, and not everyone is for you. There are over 4 billion men in the world. Do not settle for Mr. Wrong. Your Mr. Right is out there somewhere, and you will find him. Keep a positive attitude and trust your intuition. Remember that you deserve everything you want in life. You deserve a healthy, long-lasting relationship. So, keep searching until you find what it is that you desire!
1. He Doesn’t Listen to You
This might seem like a no-brainer, but it can be easily overlooked. If you’re getting to know someone, they should be eager to hear what you have to say. Mr. Wrong will ask you out on a date, ask you questions, but not listen to your answers. He will also ask you questions, but interrupt you every single time. Mr. Wrong will seem distracted when you’re talking. If he’s looking at his phone, around the area, or anywhere not at you, he is not listening.
When you’re further along in the relationship, his listening skills will show more. Mr. Wrong will just go through the motions when you express your feelings to him. He won’t talk them out with you. Mr. Wrong will try to talk over you during an argument instead of hearing you out.
2. Lack of Communication
Mr. Wrong will ghost you for a day or two and return with a lame excuse. Mr. Wrong will text you a word here and there throughout the day. Mr. Wrong will do the least and expect the most from you. If you don’t have strong communication in a relationship, what else do you have? You shouldn’t have to accept that kind of behavior from anyone, especially not from a man you might be interested in.
Don’t let him convince you that he is a bad texter. That is a blatant lie. It’s completely valid to not like texting; most people don’t. But it is not hard to send a quick and thoughtful message. If you plan on being super busy during the day, you’ll send him a text to let him know. Therefore, you should expect the same in return. It is that simple. Mr. Wrong will gaslight you to think differently, but don’t.
3. You Have Different Values
The phrase ‘opposites attract’ does not apply here. It is one thing to have different hobbies or interests with your partner. But having different life values can be a little more complicated. Having different values can lead to a more unstable relationship. Now, this doesn’t mean that relationships where values are not shared are inherently doomed. It is just more likely to not survive long-term.
Values you would want your partner to align with might be personal goals, beliefs, or priorities. For example, he’s Mr. Wrong if he wants kids, but you don’t. He’s also Mr. Wrong if he never wants to settle down, but you do. It’s very simple, and there doesn’t have to be a big issue. If your values don’t align within the first few conversations, cut your losses and move on. Don’t try to change the beliefs or values of a person. It will only lead to resentment in the future.
Final Thoughts
If the man you’re currently seeing does any of the above, throw him away. You don’t need to waste any more of your energy on Mr. Wrong. Find someone who will listen to you, who will communicate, and who has similar values. Keep in mind that these are not the only red flags. Unfortunately, there are many more, and some might be more important to you than these. The main thing to know is what you’re looking for, and trust yourself to make the best decision for you. Finding Mr. Right will take time, and you will encounter plenty of Mr. Wrong. Don’t get discouraged, and don’t give up. It will all be worth it in the end.
