Ah, the sweet, sweet symphony of console rumors. Just when you thought the dust had settled from the PS5 Slim’s “quiet release” (and its slightly less beefy SSD, but who’s counting?), the rumor mill is churning again. This time, it’s whispering sweet nothings about a new version of the PS5 Pro. Grab your tinfoil hats, folks, because we’re diving in!
So, what’s the deal? A recent report from Dealabs, a source that’s been pretty on the money lately, suggests that a new PS5 Pro model, codenamed ‘CFI-7121,’ is preparing to make its grand entrance in the European market. And when, you ask? The whispers point to a release date as soon as September 30, 2025.
My inner tech-head is already screaming, “BUT WHAT’S NEW?!” and that’s where things get a little… vague. The modifications to this new Pro model are currently shrouded in more mystery than a Hideo Kojima plot.
What’s Under the PS5 Pro’s Hood This Time?
Okay, let’s manage expectations. If you were hoping for a sleek, slimmed-down PS5 Pro to slide gracefully into your already-crowded entertainment center, you might need to keep dreaming. The report claims there will be no changes to the exterior design. So, this isn’t the PS5 Pro Slim we’ve all been quietly hoping for. It’s the same beautiful, gargantuan beast we know and love (or struggle to fit on our shelves).
But here’s a collective sigh of relief for all of us digital hoarders: the storage capacity is safe! After the PS5 Slim took a slight hit in the SSD department, there was a bit of panic that the Pro might follow suit. Nope! The report confirms that the PS5 Pro CFI-7121 will keep its glorious 2 TB of SSD storage. My ever-expanding game library thanks you, Sony.
So, what is changing? The silence is deafening. With no exterior changes, any improvements will be internal. Could we be looking at:
- A more efficient cooling system? (My current PS5 sometimes sounds like it’s preparing for takeoff).
- Slightly different, perhaps more cost-effective, internal components?
- A new chip that fixes that one obscure bug only three people in Finland have ever encountered?
Without official word, it’s all just educated guessing. It’s unlikely these will be earth-shattering changes that will have current PS5 Pro owners stampeding to the stores. This feels more like a subtle refresh for new buyers entering the high-end PlayStation ecosystem.
When Can We Get Our Hands on It?
For our friends across the pond in Europe, the date to circle on your calendar is September 30, 2025. As for the price, it seems to be holding steady at a cool €799.99. Start saving those pennies!
But for those of us in the Americas? Crickets. There’s no word yet on when this new model might grace our shores. It’s a classic case of “wait and see.” Most of this intel is trickling out from Japanese certification documents, so the information is coming in hot, but fragmented.
Ultimately, this new PS5 Pro version seems like an incremental update rather than a revolutionary leap. If you already have a Pro, you can probably rest easy. But if you’ve been holding out for the “perfect” time to jump into the enthusiast-grade PlayStation world, well, this might just be the new shiny thing you’ve been waiting for.
