New Project Hail Mary Trailer Shows Ryan Gosling Out to Save the Human Race

5 Best Ryan Gosling Performances

The new trailer for the sci-fi adventure Project Hail Mary is out. The film stars Ryan Gosling as a middle school teacher who happens to possess the knowledge needed to possibly save the human race from the sun going out. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and based on the novel by Andy Weir, Project Hail Mary looks like a movie for people who enjoy some hard sci-fi, but it could also appeal to people who just want to go on an exciting space adventure.

The Project Hail Mary Trailer

The trailer shows Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, an unassuming middle school science teacher who finds himself at the center of an attempt to save the human race. The sun is dying, along with all the other stars in its vicinity – except one. That one star might be humanity’s last hope, so it’s decided that Grace will be the one to go to it and find out why it isn’t dying. The only problem is that Grace isn’t an astronaut and has never been in space before. “I can’t even moonwalk!” he protests.

Alien Encounter

The plot is already gripping, but then the end of the trailer adds another layer of spice to the story. On his journey through space, Grace encounters a giant alien craft and meets an alien he names “Rocky.” We only get a glimpse of Rocky in the trailer, but we see Grace and the alien slowly starting to communicate despite the obvious language barrier.

Who Will Play Rocky in Project Hail Mary?

According to IMDB, Rocky will be played by theater actor James Ortiz, who also designs puppets for the theater. Project Hail Mary is currently set for release on March 20, 2026, and it looks like an intriguing, exciting adventure for any sci-fi fan. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who struck gold with animated projects like The Lego Movie and the Spider-Verse films, look like they have another winning movie. I will definitely be reading the novel before the film comes out and making plans to see the movie in theaters. This looks like the sort of movie that should be experienced on the big screen.
