Prime Video’s Motorheads Debut Season Is Out Now

Motorheads

We have movies about car makers (Tucker: The Man and His Dream), racing dramas, and movies about F1 drivers, but not quite as many about old cars. Motorheads, which debuted last month on Prime Video, fully hits the spot when it comes to car enthusiasts and car shows. Plus, this is a coming-of-age series, so it attracts lots of viewers, both old and young alike.

Motorheads Season 1 Debut

In this Ryan Phillippe-led YA (young adult) series, we find the main character, Logan Maddox, working as a mechanic at his own automotive shop in a small town in Pennsylvania. His sister-in-law, Samantha, played by Nathalie Kelley, comes back into town with her two kids. Both Samantha and Logan are looking for Logan’s brother, Christian. He has mysteriously disappeared after getting involved with some unsavory people.

An interesting tidbit of trivia: In the flashbacks, Christian Maddox is played by Deacon Phillippe, Ryan’s real-life son. There is much speculation about who might be cast as the adult Christian in season two of Motorheads!

Motorheads Central Plot

The younger  leads in the series, Caitlyn and Zac, are played by Melissa Collazo and Michael Cimino (Cimino is a spitting image of a young Peter Gadiot!) The kids are trying to acclimate to small-town life. With their uncle Logan‘s help, both Caitlyn and Zac find a bond in fixing up cars. Logan Maddox is a former race car mechanic.

As with any coming-of-age drama, spats with the townsfolk, new relationships, and the mystery of Christian at large all make Motorheads a watchable show. The fact that there is a little “car porn” for enthusiasts doesn’t hurt, either. More trivia about Motorheads is that Michael Cimino also fixes up cars in real life!

The Verdict for Motorheads

So far, reviews have been positive. It’s a refreshing change for a show NOT to be set in New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles. The characters are real, and Ryan Phillippe definitely brings Logan to life. Besides the goal of fixing up – and even racing some cars – unraveling the town’s secrets, family matters, and budding friendships play into Motorheads to make it a worthwhile watch.
