Prime Video or Netflix? Which Platform Has Better Content?

Netflix or prime video? Which is the better streaming service

In a world full of streaming services, how can you pick just one? It seems as if, these days, everyone has a streaming service. If you can’t have them all, which one should you have? Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are two of the biggest and most popular streaming services. With those two leading the pack, how do they stand up against each other? Which one of these two services is the best? Who has the better selection?

Netflix vs. Amazon Prime Video: Comparing The Two

There are many pros and cons when it comes to both streaming services. We can sit here and debate prices and whatnot between the two, but one of the things most people are interested in is the streaming catalogues for each. While price is important, if there’s a fantastic selection of content to stream, price might not matter.

While it’s hard to judge their catalogues because they’re constantly changing as new content is made and old content leaves and others are brought on.

Between the two, Prime Video has a lot more Hollywood credibility. According to PCMag, Amazon purchased MGM, which helps its catalogue, specifically movies, flourish more so than Netflix.

Amazon is also big when it comes to streaming live sports. It has the exclusive rights to Thursday Night Football, select Major League Baseball games, National Basketball Association games, Women’s National Basketball Association games, select National Hockey League Games, NASCAR, and National Women’s Soccer League, to name a few.

On the other hand, Netflix doesn’t focus as much on live sports streaming. While they do have several sports documentaries that would make any sports lover happy, the streaming platform isn’t even close to the amount of live sports that Amazon streams. In this aspect, Amazon wins.

Original Content Is Important

Of course, fan-favorite shows and movies are important when deciding on a streaming service because sometimes we want to just watch our comfort shows or movies. However, one of the most important things to look at when comparing the two streaming services is the original content.

According to cableTV.com, Amazon Prime Video is more known for its existing content since it has over 25,000 of our favorite shows and movies. While it has more of the big names, in the more recent years, it has been stepping up its original content such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Fleabag.

On the other hand, Netflix is the clear winner when we’re looking at original content. The streaming service has become known for the original shows and movies that have now quickly become our favorites. Some of those big names include Stranger Things, Orange Is the New Black, The Queen’s Gambit, and Bridgerton, just to name a few of the streaming services’ biggest original hits.

In this aspect, Netflix wins.

So What’s The Verdict?

It might be cliche to say that the winner in this streaming battle really depends upon some of your preferences. Both Amazon Prime Video and Netflix offer things that appeal to people differently. If you’re a huge sports fan and love big movies, you’re obviously going to want to go with Amazon. If you have a bigger love for more original shows and movies rather than the classics, Netflix is your winner.

I’m not a big sports fan, so that’s something that doesn’t mean much to me. I love the original shows and movies that Netflix has to offer, and I always want to jump on the bandwagon of shows that have people talking. So, when it comes to the battle of these two streaming services, I’m going to go with Netflix.

What’s your pick?
