Being pregnant in your 30’s can be quite an obstacle. From personal experience, I can say that it was a feat. In your 20s, it feels like your body is a springboard, able to bounce back fairly quickly from anything you throw at it. When I hit 30s, my body told me loud and clear it needed a significant change. When I got pregnant at 35, my body was none too shy about telling me to slow down.
Getting Pregnant

How you get pregnant is personal to each woman, with that being said, I will try to convey the most common methods. From natural conception to using ovulation predictors, getting pregnant is a huge personal step. One key these methods have in common is what we call “the monthly glue.” If you have never heard this term before, I shall explain the best way I can.
Monthly glue is your body’s way of telling you, “Hey, I’m ovulating, let’s have a baby!” This usually indicates that your body has released the egg and is prime for insemination. The glue itself is a normal female discharge that looks and feels like glue or has a glue-like disposition. Sometimes the monthly glue and ovulation can be at different times and that’s when the ovulation predictors come into play.

Getting pregnant in your 30’s can happen differently for each woman, whether trying to conceive or having a surprise, I have some tips to help your body cope with your new bundle of joy. To help your body regulate all of these new hormones and keep up with blood supply, find a prenatal that fits your dietary needs. For me, I chose the One A Day Advanced for healthy brain growth. I am not trying to promote this brand, nor am I getting sponsored, I am simply saying this one I have used and it worked best for me and my needs.
Tums will be your new best friend to get you through minor bouts of morning sickness and to keep up your calcium supply. There are morning sickness candies and remedies that work but the Tums are multipurpose and don’t have any side effects on the baby. For More aggressive morning sickness, you’ll want to turn to peppermint or ginger tea. Hot or cold, it’s up to you on your preference.
Spotting is normal and not a sign that there is something wrong, as long as it stops. Your uterus is reshaping itself to keep your bundle safe, sometimes a little blood or mucus can coat the vagina and make its way out. If you start seeing blood like a normal period, go to your OB/GYN or urgent care as soon as possible.
Diet and Exercise

The smallest steps lead to the biggest reward, your health. I was guilty of skipping a day or two of exercise and grabbing fast food instead of fresh meals. In no way am I telling you, “You have to stay on track to have a healthy baby!” I gained over 80lbs in my pregnancy, and my baby was 7.4lbs and healthy as can be. There are factors with body mass and diet that do affect the baby, but as long as you take care and cheat in moderation, you bring those statistics down. Again, this process is deeply personal and is not a one-size-fits-all guide.
