A murder not-so-mysterious in New York City. Charlie makes friends everywhere she goes, but in Poker Face Season 2 Episode 9, someone does not like her from the moment they meet. Con artists never do like Charlie. Is this the one that ends her murder solving career?
Poker Face Season 2 Episode 9: A New Lease on Death
Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne) makes her way to New York City in Poker Face Season 2 Episode 9! Good Buddy (Steve Buscemi) questions why she would want to go to a place full of bullsh**. Charlie reasons that, with so much, it could be like a white noise machine, allowing her to be like a regular person. Good Buddy keeps a really nice apartment there as a tax write-off, and he’s letting Charlie stay there, even though the landlord (David Alan Grier) keeps trying to chase her off (due to no subletting).
Of course, Charlie makes friends, Maddy (Awkwafina), and her grandmother Anne (Lauren Tom) has an apartment in the same building. And it’s under a fixed rent! So Anne is paying rent like it’s 1972! Of course, the landlord, Otto, doesn’t like that, but Anne’s new girlfriend, Kate (Alia Shawkat), loves the low rent. And Anne can only pass it on to her child (she’s adopting her granddaughter) or a spouse. Hmm…
The Cast
Awkwafina is the most recognizable star in Poker Face Season 2 Episode 9. If you don’t recognize her, you’ve missed some great movies. She was in Ocean’s Eight, Crazy Rich Asians, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Raya and the Last Dragon, just to name a few.
Lauren Tom’s voice may be most recognizable for her performance as Amy in the animated series, Futurama. She has also appeared in The Joy Luck Club, Friends, and done voice work on many other projects.
Alia Shawkat may be most well-known as Maeby Fünke in Arrested Development. And David Alan Grier has appeared in so many things, going back before he was on In Living Color, it’s hard to choose the best.
Three to Go!
After Poker Face Season 2 Episode 9, we have just 3 more episodes to go! The title for episode 10 isn’t listed, but episode 11 is called “Day of the Iguana” and episode 12 is “The End of the Road.” What does this mean for the series? Will there be a third season? There hasn’t been any confirmation one way or the other. But it does sound like the creator, Rian Johnson, is interested in continuing with more episodes.
We’re hoping that Charlie’s adventures will continue on for another season, but even if it doesn’t, whatever Natasha Lyonne does next, we’re there for it!
