Legendary musician Paul Simon announced that he would have to cancel some shows on his tour due to intense back pain. Unfortunately for fans, the shows aren’t going to be rescheduled at this time as the singer has to undergo a minor medical procedure to help him with his pain.
Paul Simon Cancels Shows
Paul Simon made the big announcement on his social media that the final two nights at the Philadelphia Academy of Music on June 28 and 29 have been canceled, and all attendees should reach out to the point of purchase for a full refund.
Paul Simon is currently on his A Quiet Celebration Tour in support of his latest album, Seven Psalms.
The statement said, “Paul has been struggling with chronic and intense back pain. Today, it became unmanageable and demands immediate attention. Unfortunately, we have to cancel these shows at this time, as we don’t have the ability to reschedule them. However, we are hopeful after this minor surgical procedure, which has been scheduled in the next few days, Paul will be able to complete the tour as well as look into returning to make up these dates.”
His Health Struggles
Back in 2018, Paul Simon announced his retirement. According to AXSTV, he claimed that the travel was beginning to be too much for him. However, he decided that he was going to make his big comeback to touring with the A Quiet Celebration Tour.
This tour is unlike any other for Paul Simon as it accommodates his recent health issues. He recently also made it public that he’s been suffering from significant hearing loss. As a result, he selected venues that were optimal for acoustics.
Paul Simon didn’t let his hearing loss hold him back from continuing to make music, and we’re more than sure that his recent back pain setback won’t stop him for much longer. The show must go on!
