Netflix announced last week that they have begun production for the second season of the beloved One Piece Live-Action. With its main five returning from season one, there will be many new introductions and characters that either have or haven’t been announced as the cast for the sequel season. The Straw Hat crew will return with Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.
Key recurring characters will make a return, like Vincent Regan as Vice Admiral Garp, Morgan Davies as Koby, Peter Gadiot as Shanks, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino as Alvida, Jeff Ward as Buggy the Clown, McKinley Belcher III as Arlong, along with others. The sequel season is also adding on a new showrunner Joe Tracz, who was just involved with Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

With eight episodes for its debut season, the sequel season for One Piece Live-Action could be bigger and better, as executive producer Tracz told Tudum that the renewed live-action, and fans of the series, can anticipate “an even more giant Season 2”. This could lead to speculation of a longer running season, perhaps just enhanced production throughout the project, or both.
Netflix’s YouTube posted a trailer on its announcement of the start of production on the new season, as they have also published a picture of the first episode’s script on their social media accounts. This is titled, “The Beginning and the End” and was co-written by showrunner Matt Owens and screenwriter Ian Stokes.
Its second season will likely adapt the Arabasta Arc from Eiichiro Oda’s popular and long-running original manga. What’s On Netflix reported that it began to film in South Africa this past week, but past reports, like The Streamr, say they began in June, but ultimately that it will take “seven months” to wrap up production.
Live-Action One Piece Second Season Announces New Cast
So far, the new additions for One Piece Live-Action have been announced on social media in three waves, as the sequel season will involve a criminal network known as Baroque Works. This includes Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, and Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine.
Other characters announced include Clive Russell as Crocus, Brendan Murray as Brogy, Werner Coetser as Dorry, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, and Ty Keogh (also known as Tyrone Keogh) as Dalton, and Callum Kerr as Smoker.
Its likely release will make 2025 an exciting year for adaptations, as BBC’s Walking with Dinosaurs documentary and more MCU Films will hit theatres next year. But many One Piece and anime fans will be patiently awaiting the new season of its live-action adaptation that was a hit in 2023, setting global records for Netflix.
Where To Watch One Piece Live-Action Season
One Piece Live-Action is exclusively streaming on Netflix for its first season, along with the hyped second season and future seasons if they are greenlit after the release of the sequel. Although there is no official release date yet, based on its timeline so far, tentatively it could have a 2025 release date for potentially next summer.
