Nicholas Cage and Christian Bale have been revealed to star in the upcoming football biopic, “Madden.” The first look was shared by Amazon MGM, though a release date has yet to be announced.
Nicholas Cage as John Madden
The film was written and directed by David O. Russell, and it tells John Madden’s story. It goes from being the coach of the Raiders and includes his work as a sports broadcaster and as part of the creation of the NFL series of games by EA. Christian Bale will star alongside him as Raiders owner, Al Davis. John Mulaney will appear as Trip Hawkins, the Electronic Arts founder. Madden’s wife, Virginia, will be played by Kathryn Hahn. And Davis’ wife, Carol, will be played by Sienna Miller.
There hasn’t been a release date, but it was first announced back in 2023.
John Madden was born on April 10, 1936, and died December 28, 2021, at the age of 85. He was the coach of the Oakland Raiders for 10 seasons from 1969 until 1978. Al Davis was born on July 4, 1929, and died October 8, 201,1 at the age of 82. He was the owner and general manager of the Oakland Raiders from 1972 until his death.
The Madden game series debuted in 1988 on the Apple II computer and was titled “John Madden Football.” There are at least 37 titles in the Madden games series, and it has been one of the most popular video game series of all time.
