Phasmophobia Is Getting Some Awesome Updates in May 2026!

Phasmophobia’s investigative crew is getting reanimated in style on May 5th, 2026! The crew that you know and love seeing run like the Scooby gang is getting a much-needed makeover from head to animation. Kinetic Games is going for the customization market now that ghost experts have the skills and insurance to afford the character update.

Phasmophobia Introduces Personalization on May 5th

Kinetic Games, developers of Phasmophobia, are delivering a major character upgrade. Since launching in 2020, the game’s atmosphere has fostered paranoia as you and your friends investigate haunted locations together. With proximity voice chat, deadly ghosts, and investigative tools, each adventure is immersive and intense—gather evidence and make it back to the truck alive.

With this upcoming update, the devs will be introducing new animations and character customization. The game will allow players to purchase new outfits, hairstyles, and accessories in the in-game store using the in-game currency! That’s right! No cash out of your pocket! Just your character’s. Complete missions and challenges to build your budget so that you can personalize your character however you want! As for what those customs are, we won’t know until the update is launched.

The developers will be hosting a Twitch stream starting on the 5th when the new update becomes available. Connect your Twitch accounts to Phasmophobia, watch the stream between the 5th and the 12th to acquire a limited edition High Priestess T-shirt to add to your character’s new wardrobe.

Make sure your first gameplay with the new developments starts on the right smudge stick with a one-of-a-kind shirt! More Drops like this one are promised to happen again with future updates. Just remember: once the Twitch Drop ends, that item is as good as gone. So keep your eyes peeled for more amazing giveaways on Phasmophobia’s Discord and official socials for release dates!

The developers at Kinetic Games state that the launch for the new update will be on May 5th. For those who participated in the 2026 Cursed Hollow event, expect an extra surprise! If you unlocked customizable items during that event, they will become available to you when the update is launched. Gather your crew, grab all the crucifixes and smudge sticks, and strut into that haunted asylum like you’re on a supernatural runway.
