New York Giants Legend Arrested For Not Following Conditions As A Registered Sex Offender

Legendary former New York Giants superstar Lawrence Taylor has been arrested again in Florida on Wednesday, having been arrested for the same charges three years ago. He was arrested for failure to follow conditions imposed on him as a registered sex offender. His lawyer claims that Taylor was unaware that he was committing any criminal offense and that it was all a misunderstanding but is this true? Taylor is no stranger to criminal offenses and here is the breakdown of what happened.

The ex-New York Giants superstar was accused of committing sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute as he was having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old in 2011. He claims that she told him that she was 19. However, he pled guilty to the aforementioned crimes. The conditions that he was bound by after the sentencing include letting law enforcement know of residence or name changes.

He failed to report his change of residency in 2021 as well, after living in a hotel for months without reporting such a change. His lawyers claimed it to be a mix-up. Thus, He cut a deal with the prosecution and pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of residency restriction for persons convicted of sex offenses. Now, his lawyers say that he will plead not guilty to his most recent charges and it’s not known yet when Taylor will appear in court for his most recent case. He was arrested and thrown in jail at around 5 pm and was released at around 3 AM on Thursday.

The Ex-Football Superstar History

Taylor spent his career from 1981 to 1983 playing for the New York Giants. He managed to collect two Super Bowls and 10 Pro Bowl selections. In addition, he was crowned NFL MVP in 1986 and he received eight first-team All-Pro nods. He was named Defensive Player of the Year on three different occasions and was part of the NFL 75th and 100th Anniversary All-Time teams. Not only this but he was also inducted into the New York Giants Ring of Honor.

Unfortunately, his criminal history is tainting his remarkable legacy, having committed the aforementioned crimes in addition to facing other arrests including drug charges in his post-playing career, and for DUI in 2016. His lawyer is confident that his client will get out of these allegations unscathed but whether that will be true or not will be revealed as further news unfolds.
