For only being out for two weeks, Geek Girl is striking the industry in waves…but it the show a hit or a miss? But it’s hard to tell if that’s good or bad. There are many mixed reviews on the show, specifically our main character, Harriet Manners, played by Emily Carey. There is a lot of hate with Emily Carey playing Harriet as well as a ton of support.
The question is why? What about this show is causing a disturbance making people question if it’s a “Hit or Miss?”

The show “Geek Girl” is an adaption of its book counterpart.
With many adaptations from the books, fans were thrilled at the idea of being able to a TV show from it. The show has been a leading role model for teens of all ages because of the accomplishments and progress that Harriet Manners was able to make. It gives teens and tweens someone to look up to and give them the courage to stand up for what they believe in.
The show is also a hit because it shows people that you can accomplish any dream, whether it’s new or not if you work for it. Harriet was able to prove that throughout the whole show.
The love interest that “Geek Girl” was providing, Liam Woodrum, is another reason viewers are tuning in. As a new and brilliant actor in the show, he’s on the path to one of the Hollywood’s next new sensations.
Miss – Harriett Manners Casting Choice (To Some)
A ton of fans who watched the show are disappointed and unhappy with the fact that Emily Carey is playing Harriet Manners. But that is only because Carey was diagnosed as autistic and is playing for Harriet, who is also autistic in the book and the show. Many people found it weird and didn’t like that she was acting as an autistic character.
When Emily Carey announced that she was playing the role, she stated that she felt a close resemblance and acceptance to acting as someone who felt like she did when she was younger. There is no reason for this to make the show be considered a miss. But what do you think? Should a show be hated because of the actor’s personality or the character they’re acting?
Thoughts on the show
Having watched the show myself, I can say it’s worth the hype people are giving it and is good for teens looking for a teen role model. The show was super sweet and cheesy. Along with any high school-teenager show, there were also bullies involved. But the best part about it is how Harriet was able to surpass others’ expectations, especially her bully who always tried to drag her down.
Overall, the show is just amazing and worth the watch when you get time. With only 10 episodes, you can do what I did and binge-watch each 20-minute episode.
Conclusion
In the end, should “Geek Girl” be considered a “hit or miss” and honestly, it should be considered a hit and on your “to be watched” list. The TV show is very motivational to those who gain something to learn from it. Go watch the show and write a review about it or talk to your family about it. One person can change the opinion of others.
