North of North is a new series on Netflix. Siaja and her family live in the heart of the artic. She was married right out of High School to Ting and started a family.
Soon her husband Ting becomes the golden boy of the small town, and she is just known as “his wife”. Siaja and her husband were out on a boating trip one day. She sees a seal; her husband takes off in the boat and she is thrown overboard.
She was saved luckily from freezing to death or drowning. Soon after the accident, she comes to a realization and her life will be changed forever.
After the Accident
The accident brought Siaja to a realization that she needed a fresh start. She started questioning who she was and herself. Am I a loser? I have no job, no car, no home of my own, and absolutely no clue how to take care of myself. She was referenced in the show as a cross between Snow White and Pocahontas aka: Snowcahontas.
She had the courage to go look for a job in her community in order to make it a better place to live. Siaja had some bumps along the way perusing this new career, but that was to be expected. Her mother brings much humor to the series as well as support for her daughter
She is very self-conscious because she always had her husband to depend on. She is now learning how to take care of herself, be independent and become more confident in herself. She starts to meet new friends along the way of her new journey of self-discovery and growth.
Episodes
The episodes of North of North range from anywhere to retrieving guinea pigs her first day of work, or when she accidentally starts a fire at the dump. Other episodes include Siaja helping with the Community Centers Elder’s night, the changes that she makes are successful but lead to other results she had not expected. She starts to discover new love. All of a sudden, her husband Ting goes missing in the Atlantic Tundra. The community of Ice Cove goes into action in search of Ting.
Once that happens, Siaja goes back to her old habits (you will have to watch to see). These are just a few of the episode plots of North of North. There is definitely a broad range of episodes to watch.

North of North received several favorable reviews. It received a 100% rating from Rotten Tomatoes. The series also received a 7.8 rating out of 10 on IMDB. According to Google reviews, 94% of people liked this series. There is only the first season available to stream now on Netflix. Looking forward to the second season!
My final thoughts on North of North. I would give this show a definite thumbs up and recommend you check it out. It is heartfelt, but also at the same time, fun and the comedy is very fresh and different. It’s about a woman who learns about herself, who she is now, and who she wants to become.
If you want to watch a new comedy, something fresh and new, or if you want to think about rediscovering who you are. North of North series has all of that, learning, re-discovery, life and love. Siaja faces obstacles and challenges with this new discovery of herself but doesn’t give up. She has support of her family and friends along the way.
