Netflix: Top 3 Productions Leaving in December

Netfix's Voltron

Many productions will leave Netflix in December. Thanksgiving and Christmas mark the start of the holiday season. As the month progresses, you’ll most likely find yourself shopping for gifts for friends and family (and possibly yourself), making gifts, attending Christmas parties, and getting to finish work before the end of the year.

With all of the running around, it’s important to take a break and what better way to unwind than with a good film or series? When picking what to watch in your spare time, consider some of the films that will be leaving Netflix in December. So, here are three films and shows that will be leaving Netflix in December.

3. A Twelve-Year Night

A Twelve-Year Night is a 2018 film about three political prisoners in Uruguay who are held in solitary confinement. It’s safe to say that the film depicts a secret military operation in 1973 in which three Tupamaro prisoners are removed from their cells and held in solitary confinement for 12 years. The command is to “drive them mad” because the military cannot kill them.

Pepe Mujica, the future president of Uruguay, is one of the topics. This Netflix series received the Goya Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and was selected as Best Film at the Cairo International Film Festival. A Twelve-Year Night will leave Netflix on December 28th, globally.

Cast & Producers

In this film, Chino Darín plays Mauricio Rosencof, Antonio de la Torre plays José Mujica, and Alfonso Tort plays Eleuterio Fernández Huidobro. These performers give destroying performances that highlight their characters’ charm and humanity during their 12-year prison during the Uruguayan dictatorship. Álvaro Brechner directed the film, which was produced by Mariana Secco and Mikel de la Rica and supported by Tornasol Films and Salado Films.

2. Voltron: Legendary Defender

Netflix’s mech-based anime series is departing the site, saddening fans worldwide. Netflix will no longer carry Voltron: Legendary Defender after eight years of exclusivity. Soon, the current Voltron series will no longer be available on Netflix. This has caused great confusion among fans, as many believed the series was produced directly by Netflix.

That doesn’t seem to be the situation. Dreamworks Productions developed Legendary Defender, which Netflix later licensed. It has been stated that Dreamworks retains ownership of the content; however, the agreement with Netflix has ended. Voltron: Legendary Defender leaves Netflix on December 7th, globally.

Cast & Producers

This animated Netflix original is a remake of the 1980s TV series Voltron: Defender of the Universe. The major voice actors are Jeremy Shada as Lance, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Pidge, Josh Keaton as Shiro, Tyler Labine as Hunk, and Steven Yeun as Keith. Kimberly Brooks as Allura and Neil Kaplan as Zarkon give backing vocals. The series was created by Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery, who also directed many episodes. Studio Mir and DreamWorks Animation Television handled the production, and Tim Hedrick and Josh Hamilton served as writers.
