Netflix Shows Not Renewed 2025: A Complete List

Netflix shows canceled

The following Netflix shows have been confirmed as not renewed for the 2025-2026 season. While ” Territory” and “The Recruitment” didn’t make the cut, plenty of other Netflix shows have been greenlit for another season. Do you know the fate of your favorite Netflix series?

Territory

“Territory” is an Australian neo-western drama, after just one season. The series, which was set in the Australian outback, was a well-received but ultimately did not meet Netflix’s criteria for renewal. This show’s creator expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with the cast and crew, but the decision to cancel was made by Netflix executives.

The Recruit

Another one of the Netflix shows is “The Recruit”, and was cancelled by Netflix after Season 2 due to a decline in viewership and high production costs. Despite strong viewership numbers, the second season saw significantly fewer views compared to the first, with only 5.9 million viewers, compared to 7.3 million for the first season. Additionally, the show faced competition from other streaming options, such as “The Night Agent”, which was renewed for a third season. Those factors contributed to the ending of the series.

The Empress

The Empress is being cancelled after its third season due to Netflix’s decision to end the series. While the show was renewed for a final season, it will not continue beyond this point, as Netflix has made the tough decision to move on from the series. The cancellation was confirmed in February 2025, and the final season is expected to air in 2026.

The Sandman

The last of the Netflix shows is “The Sandman”. The cancellation follows sexual misconduct allegations made against creator Neil Gaiman. According to a statement made by showrunner Allan Heilberg to Variety, the show had always been planned for just two seasons, despite the sprawling graphic novel series.

Netflix Fans Left Devastated

It is what it is. Even though Netflix has a certain mandate to fulfill, fans are still proud and grateful for the shows. This happens all the time on television, and fans will have to find new shows to become obsessed with.
