The Neagley renewal gives Maria Sten’s Frances Neagley a second season on Prime Video. The streamer announced the decision Oct. 1, following the “Reacher” spinoff’s Sept. 16 debut.

The Wrap reported the renewal alongside Amazon’s early audience figures. The company says the first season reached 40 million viewers worldwide in its first 13 days, making it Prime Video’s fourth most-watched original series debut.

1. Neagley renewal follows a strong debut

The audience total is Amazon’s figure. As Variety reported, the company does not explain how it calculates that viewership. The number should be read with that limitation in mind rather than treated as an independently audited count.

Sten moves from a supporting role in “Reacher” to the center of her own series. Frances Neagley is a Chicago private investigator who previously served with Jack Reacher in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit.

2. Season 2 still has unanswered questions

The Neagley renewal confirms another season, but the reports do not give a premiere date or a new storyline. A renewal announcement alone does not tell viewers when filming will start or when the next episodes will arrive.

In the first season, Neagley investigates the death of a friend after an apparent accident. Her search leads into a larger mystery. Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton developed the series, which Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios produce.

Where to catch up

Amazon’s series guide confirms that all eight first-season episodes arrived Sept. 16. Alan Ritchson guest stars as Jack Reacher, linking the spinoff to the original show while Sten leads the investigation.
