Scoobtober 2025 Gets Spooky-Chill With Lofi Album Featuring the Hex Girls
Zoinks! Scooby-Doo is getting a groovy, lo-fi makeover just in time for this year’s Scoobtober celebration. In a move that feels both like a warm, nostalgic hug and a chill, late-night study session, Warner Bros. Discovery has dropped a brand-new album, Scooby-Doo Goes Lofi. This isn’t just a remix; it’s a complete reimagining of the iconic sounds that have followed our favorite mystery-solving gang for over 50 years, now spun through the hazy, hypnotic lens of lo-fi music.
The album, released by WaterTower Music, is a brilliant fusion of two cultural powerhouses. On one side, you have Scooby-Doo, the eternally beloved Great Dane who, alongside Mystery Inc., has been a fixture of childhoods across generations. On the other, the ever-growing global phenomenon of lo-fi music—a genre that has become the unofficial soundtrack for focus, relaxation, and those quiet moments of reflection. By blending these two worlds, Warner Bros. has created something truly special: a cross-generational bridge that connects the vibrant, adventurous spirit of the classic cartoon with the modern, laid-back vibe of today’s streaming culture.

The collection features seven iconic tracks, each masterfully reinterpreted by some of the most respected names in the lo-fi scene. Artists like Hoogway, Dosi, SwuM, Kurt Stewart, Lomme, Ruth de las Plantas, Sadiva, and Pastels were given the creative freedom to infuse their signature styles into the classic tunes. The result is a soundscape that feels both comfortingly familiar and delightfully surprising.
For fans of the goth-rock goddesses, The Hex Girls, this album is an absolute must-have. Ruth de las Plantas takes on the legendary track “Hex Girl,” and her excitement is palpable. “From the moment I learned that Hex Girl would be the track to reimagine in lofi, I was thrilled,” she shared in a press release from Watertower Music. “It was part of my childhood, and I loved that it was performed by an all-female band.” She aimed to preserve the song’s powerful melody while crafting an atmosphere that feels “mysterious, dark, and colorful.” By layering in sounds of rain, thunder, and wind, she transforms the rock anthem into a deeply ambient experience. And just for good measure, a special bonus single of the Hex Girls’ lo-fi track was released on September 26th to mark the anniversary of Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost. Jinkies!
How Did the Artists Approach the Music?

The artists’ personal connections to Scooby-Doo shine through in their work. SwuM, who tackled the “What’s New Scooby-Doo?” theme, explained, “I grew up watching Scooby-Doo, so being part of this project felt like reconnecting with something nostalgic from my childhood.” He envisioned the gang “cruising down a quiet road at night, calm before the chaos of their next mystery.”
The duo Kurt Stewart & Lomme, who worked on “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” and “The Bayou Breeze,” embraced the spooky side of the series. They described the challenge of merging the “relaxing, low energy, chill music” of lo-fi with the “uneasy” and scary elements of Scooby-Doo. Their solution? A blend of classic boom-bap rhythms and eerie synths to create something that’s both petrifying and giggle-worthy, much like being in a haunted house with friends.
Pastels found a full-circle moment with her track, “Trap of Love.” “Last Halloween I even dressed up as Daphne, so this feels like a full-circle moment,” she revealed. Her remix is designed for a rare day off for the Mystery Inc. crew, with “crunchy sounding drums” and a “funky yet warm vibe” perfect for a beach trip with the windows down. It’s a track that feels like sunshine and good times.
