The Good News for People Who Love Bad News Tour will follow a successful, co-headlining tour with the Pixies and special guest Cat Power that began in 2023. With a sold-out 2023 run, Modest Mouse signed on for an encore of the tour in 2024 with the alternative rock band and solo artist.
Those lucky enough to score tickets were treated to some deep cuts of the band’s earlier works, but also heard many popular songs from the breakthrough 2004 album throughout their sets. According to Live Nation Entertainment, Modest Mouse “continues to prove themselves to be one of the most consistent live acts today.”
Having had a ticket to the July 12 show at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Colombia, Maryland, this reporter can attest to the power Modest Mouse brought to their 2024 run so far. This particular show featured two of the breakout singles from Good News for People Who Love Bad News. Modest Mouse opened their set that night with “The World at Large,” which brought the crowd to its feet. They also featured “Float On” before the end of the show, which was a perfect setup for the next tour.
Creating a Party
On August 14, the band invited fans to “join the chorus” by launching their new live platform, Ice Cream Party. In the official launch video on Facebook, lead singer Isaac Brock invites fans to join the community, which offers live videos, rare unreleased tracks, exclusive videos, and artist presale tickets before the general sale for a $ 10-a-month premium. On Wednesday, the presale tickets for the 21-date tour went live for Ice Cream Party members. The general sale will begin Friday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m.
A Special Tour of Modest Mouse
According to a recent interview with Rolling Stone on their Music Now podcast, Brock explained the tour will be special because it’s “the only record where I can do a tour with all the living members, all the exact same members.”
The tour will feature multiple performances in Portland, Oregon, Los Angeles, and New York. Other cities on the tour include Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Philadelphia, and more. For a full tour list and to learn more about the Modest Mouse Ice Cream Party, visit www.modestmouse.com.
