Who knew a bad thunderstorm could be so entertaining? If you ask Ludacris’ fans from Milwaukee, they’d be the first to tell you about it. On June 22nd, Ludacris would give people a gift that they, and even he, weren’t planning for. It was a live performance, a free pop-up concert at the 3rd Street Market Hall, making that Saturday night memorable for many fans.
Because of the heavy rains, Milwaukee officials had no other option but to shut down the numerous concerts and events throughout the city for safety reasons. As a result of these shutdowns, many fans would leave disappointed knowing that all the planning and excitement they felt would go down the drain. With all hope lost and a beautiful Saturday night ruined, it was up to Ludacris to save the day, which he did.
How Bad Were the Storms?

Because of the citywide shutdowns, the Tacos and Tequila Festival had no choice but to cancel their remaining event in a Facebook confirmation post. Sadly, according to commenters, the show was pulled during Ludacris’ set. What’s even worse? There are currently no plans for rescheduling, which means unless you were at Third St. Market Hall, you missed out on his performance entirely.
Although concertgoers were sad at the sudden cancellations, they may have been for the best as many counties in Milwaukee had numerous tornado warnings or flash-flooding. To make disappointed fans feel less alone, other concerts such as Summer Fest and the Dave Matthews Band were canceled as well, leaving their fans sad in the rain as well – literally.
Ludacris’ Pop-Up Concert
Before the concert was shut down, people were amped from excitement as they expected a great time at Franklin Field where Ludacris would have his headlining performance at the Tacos and Tequila Festival. Instead, the worsening weather ruined everyone’s Saturday night plans.
So, what does Ludacris do for all the sad fans of Milwaukee? He decided to throw a free concert with a microphone in hand and a JBL speaker strapped around his shoulder. From there, Ludacris did whatever great rappers do – control the crowd. Performing his hit song Move (Expletive), he had the entire hall buzzing from his surprising performance.
Who is SteveDaStoner?

However, Ludacris wouldn’t be performing by himself. By his side was TikTok sensation, SteveDaStoner, who was a popular rapper in Milwaukee. What’s more, SteveDaStoner is known for doing free concerts throughout the city. So, it only made sense that Ludacris would want part of the action as well.
After Ludacris’ performance, SteveDaStoner entertained jewelry store employers, their children, and even famed lawyer David Gruber, by performing his signature dance to his breakout hit Barkin. During SteveDaStoner’s performance, Ludacris would be his hype-man to help further entertain the crowd, while giving energy to SteveDaStoner to keep fans on their feet partying to his song.
Pop-Up Concerts Should Happen More Often
Although Ludacris was unable to perform at the Tacos and Tequila festival, he still found a way to give his fans an eventful show. With that said, he should incorporate pop-up concerts more into his tour as they make his performances more unpredictable and intimate as fans wouldn’t know what was coming. Who knows? With Ludacris receiving praise for his pop-up concert, he may implore other artists to give them a shot.
