LIZ and SOPHIE’S Upbeat Collaboration “Sunscreen” Finally Released
Although the end of summer is near, it isn’t quite over yet. LIZ (stylized in all caps) and SOPHIE (stylized in caps) fully understand this. As a result, the two ladies aim to keep the sunny vibes alive with their upbeat new single, “Sunscreen”.
Originally recorded in 2018, “Sunscreen” circulated as a leak on streaming platforms and in DJ sets for years. As a result, the song became a subject of fan speculation and internet lore. The upbeat tune was a follow-up to their 2015 collaboration “When I Rule the World”. After over seven years, “Sunscreen” was officially released on August 22, 2025, marking LIZ’s return. The song also serves as the first single from her forthcoming full-length album.
LIZ and SOPHIE Are Keeping Summer Alive
A radiant, sun-soaked pop anthem, “Sunscreen” serves as the ideal anecdote for the perfect beach day. The song also honors SOPHIE’s artistry while signaling LIZ’s new creative chapter. The accompanying music video, filmed on the island of Mykonos, was directed by James Orlando. The video’s concept was created by SOPHIE and co-designer Renata Raksha. The release is part of a series of posthumous SOPHIE projects, following her self-titled album released the previous year.
LIZ and SOPHIE’s Star Power Were Inevitable
Born Elizabeth Nicole Abrams, LIZ’s music is described as “Sailor Moon R&B” and “future pop”. Beginning her budding career as a ballerina, she gained significant attention in 2015. This occurred when her collaboration with SOPHIE, “When I Rule the World” was featured in a Samsung commercial. The Trazana California native’s signature sound is heavily influenced by the late 1990s and early 2000s era.
Born Sophie Xenon, SOPHIE delivers a sound that blends mainstream pop, disco, and 1980s electronic vibes. Her eighth studio album, Perimenopop, is set for release in September 2025. In the meantime, “Sunscreen” is now available on all streaming platforms.
