KPop Demon Hunters Soundtrack Finally Claims No. 1 Spot
The soundtrack for the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters has reached number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart. This marks a significant achievement after seven non-consecutive weeks at number two. This milestone, announced on September 14, makes it the first soundtrack to top the chart since Disney’s Encanto in March 2022. This ended a three-and-a-half-year dry spell for film soundtracks.
A “Golden” Hit Indefinitely Enhanced a “Golden” Soundtrack

The album’s rise to the top was driven by a deluxe reissue on September 5. This included 23 additional tracks, and the wide release of its standard CD. The soundtrack’s lead single, “Golden” by HUNTR/X, has led the Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive weeks. Eventually, it became the longest-running number one song by an animated act in chart history.
“Golden” is also only the second KPop single ever to reach number one on the U.K. chart. This follows PSY’s “Gangnam Style” in 2012. Released on Netflix on June 20, 2025, KPop Demon Hunters has generated over 236 million views. Ultimately, it became one of the most popular Netflix films of all time. The track’s popularity has also inspired numerous covers and fan videos on social media platforms.
The Popularity of KPop Demon Hunters Continues to Rise
KPop Demon Hunters is the seventh animated film soundtrack to reach number one on the Billboard 200. The album’s success is unprecedented for a soundtrack. It became the first in nearly 30 years, to have four simultaneous tracks in the Billboard Hot 100’s top 10.
KPop Demon Hunters could Possibly Garn a Sequel
The film itself has become Netflix’s most popular original movie to date, spending 12 weeks on the Top 10 Movies chart. This also included four weeks at number one. The soundtrack’s success is also attributed to the film’s “Sing-Along Version” release. It will also include the release of five collectible CD variants, with posters and photocards.
