Liza Minnelli to Honor Janet Jackson With Icon Award at Dancers Against Cancer Gala

Janet Jackson is set to receive the 2025 ICON of the Year Award at the Gala of the Stars benefit.  The annual benefit supporting Dancers Against Cancer, will be held on Tuesday, October 21, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

Gala of the Stars Celebrates Janet Jackson’s Legacy in Music and Dance

The Gala of the Stars was founded in 2012.  It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial assistance, emotional support, and community connection to dancers, teachers, and choreographers affected by cancer. This award recognizes Jackson’s dynamic influence on music, dance, and culture. It also highlights her advocacy for compassion, empowerment, and artistic excellence.

The award will be presented to Jackson by pioneering singer, actress, and dancer, Liza Minnelli. With a career that spans over six decades, Minellli has earned a multitude of prestigious accolades across film, television, theatre, and music. She is also one of the few performers to achieve the EGOT status, having won an Emmy, Grammy,  Oscar, and Tony Award. A longtime friend of the Jackson family, Minellli was also a close associate of Jackson’s late brother, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Janet Jackson has aquired numerous accolades throughout her prosperous career. These include five Grammy Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards, eleven American Music Awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.  Additionally, Jackson holds the record for the most consecutive top-ten entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 by a female artist.
