Kelce and Swift’s romance left football fans with mixed emotions. Some proclaimed from the start of their budding love story that the Chiefs would win the Super Bowl, due to their relationship. Other fans were angry that the Swifties were now taking over the football world, not realizing how well-known Kelce is in the NFL. They even turned to social media to rant about the romance.
In addition to the NFL conspiracy, there was a widespread conspiracy theory that their well-publicized relationship’s main purpose was to help President Joe Biden get reelected in 2024.
Encourages Fans to Vote
Despite these far-fetched conspiracy claims, it is important to note how much Taylor Swift’s opinion has encouraged her fan base to look at the world’s issues, rather than focusing only on her music. She has encouraged them to take a deeper look into LGBTQ+ rights, as well as voter registration.
Although it is nothing new when a celebrity uses their platform to inform their fans, it is important to see how much her opinion has encouraged her fans to make a difference by registering to vote. In 2023, she encouraged her 272 million followers to register to vote and directed them to Vote.org.
Afterward, the organization recorded more than 35,000 registrations. Registrations increased in the 2020 presidential election cycle. An hour after her post, Vote.org received a 1,266% jump in participation.
Swift’s Influence is Seismic
Taylor Swift’s influence on popular culture is nothing short of seismic. A testament to this is her concerts in Seattle in 2023, which created a seismic activity equivalent to a 2.3-magnitude earthquake. The two-day concert had 144,000 Swifties in attendance.
This event surpassed Seattle’s previous seismic event in 2011, dubbed “Beast Quake,” when football fans celebrated Marshawn Lynch’s touchdown for the Seattle Seahawks against the New Orleans Saints. With this and her accomplishment of having the first tour to cross the billion-dollar mark, it is no wonder why people believe Taylor Swift can swiftly impact society.
