Grammys 2026: Who Wins Best Dance/Electronic Album?

In the history of the Grammys, which now goes back nearly seven decades, the Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album is among the most recent innovations. Electronica is a genre of music that first became widely known in the 1990s, and this particular award was established in 2005. Moreover, this category now belongs to a genre field – Pop & Dance/Electronic – which was only established at the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024. This year’s lineup for Best Dance/Electronic Album is a mix of two veterans in the category and three first-time nominees.

EUSEXUA is the third studio album of FKA Twigs, a British musical artist known for merging numerous genres, including electronica, avant-garde, and R&B. It was released on January 24 of last year, though Twigs first introduced it at a listening party in August of 2024, and released a stunning EUSEXUA music video of nearly eight minutes on her YouTube channel on September 23 of that year. This album, which combines avant-pop, club pop, and techno, is Twigs’s first studio album since 2019’s Magdalene. (Her music video for its lead single, “Cellophane,” was Grammy-nominated for Best Music Video). This past November, she released a sequel, EUSEXUA Afterglow. This year’s nomination is her very first in this category.

Fred Again – Ten Days

Another English artist, Fred Again, has received his second nomination in this category and a chance at a second win. The first was at the 66th Grammy Awards for the strangely titled Actual Life 3 (January 1 – September 9, 2022). This year’s nominee album, Ten Days, was actually released in September of the year before last. It is notable for the guest appearances of many other musicians, including Scott Hardkiss, Jozzy, Emmylou Harris, and Jim Legxacy. Fred Again is also a nominee in the category Best Dance/Electronic Recording for the song “Victory Lap” (composed with Skepta and PlaqueBoyMax). He won in this category for the song “Rumble” (composed with the very Grammy-successful Skrillex) in 2024.

PinkPantheress – Fancy That

British artist PinkPantheress has been nominated for her UK-garage mixtape, Fancy That, released in May of last year. This is her second mixtape following 2021’s To Hell with It. Fancy That is one of two Grammy nominations this year: the other is under the category Best Dance Pop Recording for her dance-pop song “Illegal.”

Australian alternative dance group RรœFรœS DU SOL is up for their second Grammy nomination in this category for their album “Inhale / Exhale,” released in October of 2024. This is the group’s fifth studio album; the fourth, Surrender, was nominated for the same award at the 65th Grammys. This is also the sixth Grammy nomination overall for RรœFรœS DU SOL. Their one win was in the category Best Dance Recording, which went to their 2021 song “Alive” at the 64th Awards.

Rounding out the five is a very crassly, cumbersomely titled album (which may be more conveniently called “FUS,” and which has an album cover so provocative that parts of it had to be blurred) by a Grammy record-holder. The American musician Skrillex has won nine Grammy Awards, including three in this very category. His most recent Best Dance/Electronic Album win is one he shares with Diplo, for their 2015 album “Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack รœ.” Skrillex has won more Grammys than anyone else in the electronic dance music genre, and he shares his record of three Best Dance/Electronic Album wins with The Chemical Brothers. “FUS” is a surprise album released on April Fool’s Day last year.

When to Tune in

This year’s Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 1, in Los Angeles’s Crypto.com Arena between 5-8:30 PM PST. They will be broadcast live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. Best Dance/Electronic Album is but one of 95 categories. Two of these are newly introduced: Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover. At the same time, one category from previous years, Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package, has been reabsorbed into Best Recording Package. Trevor Noah will host the ceremony.
