The Daily Epic Earworm For October 25, 2025
Everyone gets songs stuck in their heads that just won’t go away. They sneak into your subconscious. They are epic earworms that you find yourself humming uncontrollably, singing in the shower, or tapping the beat to with your foot or ballpoint pen when you should be working. Sometimes they even keep you awake at night. Whether they are current hits, one-hit wonders, movie soundtrack gems, holiday favorites, or songs from your youth, their catchy vocals, riffs, hooks, and choruses seem to linger for days.
Here, those songs find a home, no matter the genre. Here, those epic earworms are revisited, explained, and celebrated. Here, you may find the song that haunts you tomorrow. Here is today’s unescapable song of the day…and the story behind it.
Today’s Epic Earworm: Rachel Platten — “Fight Song”

Today’s epic earworm is a song that has uplifted and inspired people everywhere. It has been played at charity fundraisers, sporting events, televised New Year’s Eve specials, and on “Good Morning America” (the latter performance winning a Daytime Emmy). However, the song originally had an audience of just one: the singer herself. The song is “Fight Song,” and the target audience was its writer, Rachel Platten.
Platten spent more than a decade traveling the country in a van, playing to crowds of 20 to 30 people. The singer soon hit a dark point in her life where she had to consider giving up on her dream of becoming a successful musician. She wrote the song to convince herself to keep on going, keep fighting. It is a good thing that she did. In February of 2015, “Fight Song” was released as the first song on her major label debut album, Wildfire. The song sold over six million copies and was an international smash hit.
Still Fighting
Ironically, Platten would need to hear and share that song again. After the success of Wildfire in 2016, the singer released the follow-up, Waves, in 2017. It would then be seven long years before the release of her next album. Platten took a break to start a family, but after giving birth to both her children, she struggled with postpartum depression (PPD). It was a battle that led her to share her story publicly and support mental health organizations.
In 2025, Platten is still fighting the good fight. She recently partnered with Kenneth Cole and the Mental Health Coalition to film a music video for her new song “Bad Thoughts.” The song was motivated by her PPD experiences. Platten also began re-recording “Fight Song” and a few other songs from Wildfire to be included on a new album called Fight Song: Rachel’s Version. The album title was inspired by Taylor Swift‘s recent re-recording project following her regaining the rights to her masters. The two had performed “Fight Song” together during Swift’s 1984 World Tour.
