Aphex Twin’s New Music Will Delight Many Old Fans While Welcoming New Ones
Both mixed on the Zähl console, the first track has an evocative sound, while the second track incorporates breaks and percussion. These effects give it a more club-oriented feel. Uploaded on November 27, 2025, the tracks feature a cover image of the Grammy winner with his partner swimming in Italy. These new releases mark the first new music from Aphex Twin since last year. In December of 2024, he shocked fans with the release of Music From The Merch Desk (2016–2023).
The new tracks are part of a continued pattern of sporadic, quiet releases, with him sharing material on SoundCloud rather than more traditional album formats. Currently, it remains unclear whether the songs will receive an official release beyond SoundCloud. To date, Aphex Twin has received numerous accolades throughout his career. In 2015, he won the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album for his album Syro. The album also earned him nominations for the IMPALA Awards, Mercury Prize, and A2IM Libera Awards, including a win for Creative Packaging.
The Origin of Aphex Twin
Born Richard D. James, Aphex Twin began creating music at the age of 14. In the late 1980s, he started DJing at clubs and free parties in the South West of England. His early interest in sound and electronics led him to modify analogue synthesizers. He gained early recognition with the release of his debut EP, Analogue Bubblebath (1991). Gaining an early following, he soon established his reputation in the UK dance scene.
After signing to Warp Records in late 1992, the Ireland born, England bred musician went on to release multiple influential albums. These albums include, I Care Because You Do (1995) and the Richard D. James Album (1996), which marked a shift toward computer-generated music. The latter was hailed by many as his best work. Known for his innovative style, Aphex Twin’ blending techniques have always set him apart from the rest. With his unique blending of multiple genres, Aphex Twin remains a prominent staple in electronic music.
