Although hopefully is a word used often, some are unsure of what it means. To provide enlightenment, Hopefully! expresses desire with an expectation of fulfillment. The path to fulfillment is often a lengthy one, filled with a plethora of unexpected disappointments. Our daily challenges usually leave us feeling disillusioned, asking ourselves if trying is even worth it. Despite this, we realize that we must keep going, on the account that a path with no obstacles leads to no place.
No one knows this philosophy more than Loyle Carner. With his new album Hopefully!, the Brit Award-nominated aims to be that light that shines through any darkness. A picture of redemption, the man born Benjamin Gerard Coyle-Larner is known for his jazz-infused, introspective sound. Accompanied by entrancing production, his thought-provoking lyrics evoke the ears with their fluid realism.
Released on April 24, his new double single, “All I Need/In My Mind,” showcases two slightly different sides of Carner from an autobiographical perspective. “All I Need” chronicles conquering adversity, while “In My Mind” describes the familiar feeling of being overwhelmed by insecurities and the significance of overcoming them. Although both songs showcase two different moods, they both imply rising above current obstacles, after gaining the strength to face new ones. The album will carry a similar vibe, restoring the hope that all felt was lost.
