Top 10 Movies To Watch This Week on Netflix | August 17-23, 2025
So youโre stuck in scrolling purgatory again, huh? Endlessly thumbing through Netflix, hoping something jumps out. Weโve been there. Thatโs why we pulled together the Top 10 Movies you would actually want to watch this weekโno fluff, no filler. Whether you’re into thrillers, rom-coms, or indie gems, thereโs something worth hitting play on. Hereโs your movie cheat sheet for August 17-23, 2025โbecause your time is too valuable for another โmehโ movie night.
1. KPop Demon Hunters (2025)

Bubblegum pop. Demon slaying. Seoulโs hottest girl group has range.
Rumi, Mira, and Zoey are K-pop idols by day and secret demon-hunting warriors by nightโbecause apparently selling out stadiums just wasnโt intense enough. This animated fantasy blends anime-style action, magical girl vibes, and full-on concert sequences, all powered by K-pop bangers. Think Sailor Moon meets Blackpinkโwith Joel Kim Booster voicing a literal monster boy band. Itโs chaotic in the best way.
2. My Oxford Year (2025)

Grab tissues. And maybe a second glass of wine.
Ambitious American Anna (Sofia Carson) heads to Oxford to live out her childhood dreamโฆ then meets Jamie (Corey Mylchreest), a charming Brit with a secret that upends both their lives. If you’re craving something romantic, tragic, and very, very British, this tearjerker will absolutely deliver. Itโs One Day for the streaming crowdโcomplete with dreamy libraries and emotional gut punches.
3. Home (2015)

An alien, a girl, and the ultimate road trip.
When an alien race invades Earth and rearranges everything to their liking, one smart human kid (Rihanna) and one very awkward Boov named Oh (Jim Parsons) team up to fix it all. Equal parts goofy and sweet, Home is a colorful, surprisingly emotional story about belonging. Also, yesโRihanna sings. A lot.
4. Elektra (2005)

Before the MCU was a machine, we had this.
Jennifer Garner returns as Elektra in this early Marvel spin-offโa stylized, moody action flick that was misunderstood at the time and is getting a second life on streaming. She plays an assassin-for-hire with a haunted past, pulled into protecting a father and daughter from a mystical death cult. Itโs very 2000s (in all the good and wild ways) and pairs perfectly with some retro superhero nostalgia.
5. Happy Gilmore 2 (2025)

The swing is back. And so is the rage.
Adam Sandler returns to the green in a sequel that nobody saw coming and everybody secretly wanted. Now a dad with a short fuse and a big heart, Happy dusts off his clubs to help his kid chase golf glory. Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and Shooter McGavin (yep!) are all back, plus some wild cameos from actual PGA stars. The vibes? Still dumb and delightful.
6. Megamind (2010)

The villain becomes the heroโeventually.
When supervillain Megamind finally defeats his nemesis Metro Man, heโs left withโฆ a major identity crisis. Will Ferrell voices the worldโs most dramatic evil genius in this underrated animated gem, joined by Tina Fey and Jonah Hill as the messy mortals caught in his midlife supervillain spiral. Smart, weird, and ahead of its time, Megamind still holds up.
7. Fixed (2025)

Balls to the wall. Literally.
Bull the dog just found out heโs getting neutered in the morningโand heโs not taking it well. So he rallies his furry squad for one last legendary night of freedom. Genndy Tartakovsky (Hotel Transylvania, Primal) directs this raunchy, hand-drawn comedy with big energy, R-rated gags, and surprisingly touching moments. Think Superbad, but everyoneโs got a tail.
8. Stolen: Heist of the Century (2025)

A diamond job so slick it had to be real.
This documentary dives deep into the 2003 Antwerp Diamond Center heistโaka one of the biggest jewel robberies in history. With reenactments, real footage, and a few jaw-dropping confessions, it plays like a thriller even though itโs all true. Youโll be googling the suspects halfway through, then silently judging your own security system by the end.
10. Cocaine Bear (2023)

Yes, itโs real. Yes, itโs insane. No, itโs not a documentary.
Based on the very true, very absurd 1985 story of a black bear who ate a duffel bag of cocaine and went absolutely feral in a Georgia forest. Director Elizabeth Banks leans all the way into the chaosโmixing horror, comedy, and gore with an ensemble cast (Keri Russell, Ray Liotta, Margo Martindale, OโShea Jackson Jr.) and one big, coked-out predator. It’s Snakes on a Plane energy with a paw print.
And Thatโs a Wrap
Whether you’re in the mood for demon-slaying pop stars, golf tantrums, or a bear on a coke bender (again, real thing), Netflix has officially entered its โsomething for everyoneโ era. This weekโs lineup spans animated chaos (Fixed, KPop Demon Hunters), gut-punching romance (My Oxford Year), and whatever the hell Cocaine Bear isโand somehow, it all works.
