Clowns are terrifying and have become a staple in all things scary during Halloween. For decades, Stephen King’s Pennywise from IT has been one of the most notable killer clowns in the horror genre. Now, a new terrifying Clown is making his way into the scene. Art the Clown from Terrifier has been the face of the slaughterhouse films and is returning for a third installment of the Terrifier franchise.
Who is Art the Clown?
The first film, released in 2016, was based on a 2011 short of the same name. Art the Clown, played by David Howard Thornton, is the horrifying face of the Terrifier franchises. He is a maniac clown who sets his sights on a victim and will dispose of anyone who gets in his way.
Art the Clown’s signature look is a vintage-inspired clown costume with the old school clown makeup and a hat to match. The menacing Clown is quickly becoming more recognized in the world of iconic movie monsters, and Terrifier is becoming a soon-to-be horror classic. From his horrifying appearance to his gory and over-the-top ways of killing his victims, Art the Clown will surely be terrifying for generations to come.
What to Expect in Terrifier 3
While the first two films, Terrifier and Terrifier 2, take place on the scariest night of the year, Halloween night, Terrifier 3 is switching it up and taking place during the happiest time of the year: Christmas. Damien Leone, who directed and wrote the short and first two films, will be returning for the third installment, as will Thornton, who will be returning as Art the Clown.
Terrifier 3 follows Sienna, played by Lauren LaVera, and her brother Johnathan, played by Elliot Fullam, who are trying to move on after surviving Art The Clown’s Halloween massacre from the previous film. While they think they are safe and ready to enjoy the Holiday season with their family, Art The Clown comes back dawning a bloody Santa suit and wielding his axe. Ready to make this Christmas bloody for the residents of Miles County.
Final Thoughts
Christmas is usually associated with happiness, love, family, and the feeling that nothing wrong can happen. Setting a film like Terrifier during that time is an unsettling twist, but it adds an extra layer of horror. Mixing the twinkling bright lights of the Holidays with the darkness of Halloween reminds everyone that no time of the year is safe from someone like Art the Clown.
Terrifier 3 is set to hit theaters on October 11th of this year. Coming out right at the beginning of October, it is the perfect Halloween activity for this year. If you think you can handle the gore, check out Terrifier 3 when it hits theaters this October, and make sure to check out Terrifier and Terrifier 2 before buying your ticket.
