Taylor Swift is the hottest name in Hollywood right now. Between her Eras Tour and relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, the music superstar is gaining more popularity every day. According to reports, she could enter another popular pop culture series very soon. Marvel Studios is reportedly eyeing Swift for a role in a Disney+ series and the character might surprise you.
Taylor Swift Being Considered For Marvel Studios Role
Marvel Studios insider Daniel Richtman reported that Kevin Feige met with Taylor Swift about a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many fans have speculated that Swift could play the popular X-men character Dazzler because of its perfect role fit. Dazzler is a pop superstar, and Swift already has a similar look. However, the reports today indicate Feige may have another role in mind, the Blonde Phantom.
For those who are unfamiliar, Blonde Phantom is a secretary at the Mark Mason Detective Agency. When she is off the clock, she puts on the mask and becomes the Blonde Phantom. She does not possess any superhuman powers but is skilled in hand-to-hand combat and marksmanship. The Disney+ series would reportedly be “a spy show set in Vegas in the 50s.” It sounds like a fun project, and it shows that Marvel Studios isn’t afraid to go against the grain.
Good For Marvel
I, for one, have to applaud Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios for considering Taylor Swift for something other than Dazzler. Whatever you think of Swift, there is no denying she has talent. Rather than seeing her play a character that is exactly like who she is in real life, it would be fun to see her play a different type of character. A 50s spy movie with Swift kicking the butts of underworld criminals sounds pretty awesome. It would be something different and give the 14-time Grammy winner a chance to show off her talent.
Obviously, very little is known about the project, but if Feige and Taylor Swift are meeting, the two sides will get something done. Even if it isn’t as Blonde Phantom, it seems almost inevitable that Swift will end up in an MCU project.
Smart For Swift
Taylor Swift knows the popularity of the MCU. Even with the recent run of movies and shows that have failed to impress fans, the MCU is still a huge draw. Bob Iger has announced they are scaling back on the projects. They are going for quality over quantity. As the quality of the content comes back, the popularity should increase as well.
Marvel’s parent company, Disney, is no dummy. One easy way to bring back the popularity of the MCU is to cast the biggest star in Hollywood.
