Weird Working Titles Revealed for Star Wars: Starfighter and Mysterious Taika Waititi Project

Star Wars movies can have weird working titles. For example, the working title of Return of the Jedi was “Blue Harvest,” and the working title of Solo: A Star Wars Story was “Harry and the Boy.” Now, the working titles of two upcoming Star Wars movies have been revealed, and they are as bizarre as you’d expect.

Star Wars: Starfighter‘s Working Title

According to Yahoo! News, the working title for the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter was “Kyber Mist,” with the production title being “Blue Mist Productions.” All the talk about mist brings foggy planets to mind, and the word “kyber,” makes you think the story will involve kyber crystals, the crystals used to make lightsabers. Perhaps the final film will involve a misty planet in some way, but in all likelihood, the titles have nothing to do with the actual movie. Starfighter will star Ryan Gosling, and is set for release in May of 2027.

The Untitled Taika Waititi Star Wars Film

Taika Waititi is set to direct a currently untitled Star Wars film, and its working title was also revealed. Supposedly, the working title is “Cosmic Doom,” with the production title “Ghost Truck 6.” “Cosmic Doom” sounds like a galaxy-wide cataclysm that no Death Star can match. As for “Ghost Truck 6,” ghosts exist in the galaxy far, far away, but trucks do not. These titles feel randomly selected, which they might have very well been.

What is the Taika Waititi Movie About?

Aside from the working title that likely has nothing to do with anything, nothing is known about the movie’s plot, characters, or release date. Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, had this to say about the film:

“Taika is on Taika time . . . I’ve just continually said to him, look, when you feel that you’re ready and you can really devote the time, we’re going to do it . . . We’ll be waiting . . . I’m just hoping we get there. That will be a great Star Wars movie.”

It appears that we will be waiting a long time for this movie. In the meantime, fans can debate about what sort of “cosmic doom” might be awaiting the galaxy far, far away.
