‘ParaNorman’ Back in Theaters With Exciting New Poster and Trailer
Do you remember ParaNorman? You might not. It was a stop-motion animated feature made by Laika, the same company that made the cult favorite Coraline. ParaNorman has its own cult following, though not as big as Coraline‘s. However, its cult is apparently big enough to warrant a return to theaters. The story of a boy who can communicate with the dead and must save his town from a zombie invasion is making a return to theaters next month with a new short and remastered 3D.
ParaNorman‘s Rerelease Trailer

The official rerelease trailer plays on the large following Coraline has, beginning with Coraline walking into a movie theater that is showing ParaNorman. It’s a clever way to advertise. As it progresses, the trailer emphasizes ParaNorman’s horror aspect, letting you know that this is not a kiddie movie. It also advertises that the movie will be shown in “Remastered 3-D.” The movie’s original release was during a time when people still got excited about 3-D movies, so it’s neat to see a movie trailer reminding people of why they used to enjoy 3-D movies.
More About the Rerelease
Laika’s official website shows a new poster that displays Norman and his friends looking terrified, next to the title in green and red imposing fonts. It embraces the movie’s B-movie inspirations, capturing how friends used to go to the movies together to get scared of weird horror movies. The movie’s rerelease will also include a new short titled ParaNorman: The Thrifting. That sounds like a great little addition, except that the short is in CGI, not stop-motion like the original movie. Since Laika has been hailed for keeping stop-motion animation alive, fans can’t help but feel a little disappointed, no matter how good the short is.
When is the Movie being Rereleased?
The rerelease will be from October 25-28 in the US and October 23-28 internationally. In other words, it won’t be playing for long, so you’d better catch it while you can. Still, it’s a great way to chill out for Halloween with some friends. In this age where so many animated movies are playing it safe about scaring young audiences, it’s refreshing to see an animated movie that isn’t afraid to scare people. However, you might also want to bring tissues, since the movie has a rather heartbreaking twist towards the end. You have been warned.
