Deadpool and Wolverine is set to hit theaters on July 25th in the UK and the 26th in the US, and fans have been gearing up to enjoy a new piece of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Ryan Reynolds will be coming back as Deadpool, and he will be joined by Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Film director Shawn Levy promised the fans an unforgettable experience, and as the countdown to the movie release has started, everyone is holding their breath in anticipation.
Marvel Will Not Affect Deadpool and Wolverine Story
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios and film producer, has already shared that this movie is centered around the characters and their personalities. It is not focusing on how the movie would fit into the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Shawn Levy added that the movie is going to be reminiscent of the earlier Marvel movies, in which the stakes of the film essentially depend on the characters. He says, “The character stakes are more important than the global MCU stakes.” This made the fans even more excited, as they would be witnessing a story that is personal and more intimate rather than worrying about the ramifications it would have on the events in the future films of the franchise.
The main plot that could be concluded from the trailers and the synopsis so far tells us we will be seeing Deadpool and Wolverine teaming up after the former realizes that his life, as he knew it, will be going up in flames. He does not know how to prevent that from happening unless Wolverine chooses to help him get things back on track.
An Unforgettable Experience Awaits The Moviegoers
Shawn Levy also shared in the latest issue of SFX magazine that the movie will offer an insanely unforgettable experience to the moviegoers. He says, “There are going to be moments that the audiences are going to love, but I’ll also say there are moments where they are going to lose their damn minds- like that times ten billion.” But the filmmaker did not elaborate on the reasons why the viewers might have this reaction.
However, the fans have been theorizing for the last couple of months that there might be some familiar faces popping out next to the already-confirmed cameos of Sabretooth and Pyro and a possible appearance of Lady Deathstrike. Levy acknowledged that “the internet is a delight of rumors about the multitude of character cameos that are in this movie. Some rumors are true, some are way off base.” We don’t know yet which are true and which are not, but we do know that among the rumored faces are Taylor Swift and Jennifer Garner, and some even expect a Loki cameo.
The movie’s screenplay was written by Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wellsis. Levy teased that certain scenes will be hard to move on from because they are extremely hilarious. “We went through this in the edit room, when I’m telling Ryan that every time we show a certain scene, you can’t hear the three lines after because the audience is still laughing at the line that came before.” This to Ryan was an absolute delight, he added. “Great, they’ll have to see the movie again!” Levy agrees that it is a movie that’s worth watching countless times as there will be newer details, jokes, and references to catch on with with each watch.
The movie is expected to have a grand opening weekend and be the strongest one for an R-rated movie at the box office. Only a few weeks separate us from finding out and seeing if Deadpool and Wolverine will join the 2024 summer box office hit Inside Out 2.
