2024 Beetlejuice Inspired Beverage Upsets Fans

A Beetlejuice-inspired cocktail has garnered some adverse reactions from fans. Tim Burton’s original film cemented itself as a classic film. Even better, the sequel held its own at the box office when it hit the big screens earlier this month. Due to the film’s success, AMC Theatres attempted to capitalize on a blue cocktail drink. However, there has been some controversy surrounding the drink, which has resulted in some adverse reactions from fans.

Beetlejuice Drink Controversy

Top films these days often come with themed snacks, such as the Deadpool & Wolverine and Dune popcorn buckets. For Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, AMC Theatres served a drink called the Sandworm Slayer at its in-theatre MacGuffin Bars. The drink pays homage to the black-and-white beasts of the movie’s spirit world.

The blue drink includes vodka, black raspberry juice, and a handful of sour candy worms. While some fans enjoyed the drink, many noticed it cost more than a standard movie ticket. Various users on social media have claimed that the Sandworm Slayer is $31 in Illinois and California. Others, sold in a plastic cup, cost $28. The pricing depends on where the guest lives; most of the pricing at AMC locations is $21 plus tax, while liquor pricing laws in some areas are as expensive as $28.25.

One user, Andrew Woods, posted, “I bought the AMC BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE themed drink. It costs 31 dollars…” Woods lives in the Los Angeles area, and he followed up with another post by saying, “I wasn’t mad, by the way. I just thought it was funny.”When another user asked about the amount, he replied with a photo of a sandwich board showing the price, which was $28.25 plus tax.

Information From The Beetlejuice Drink

The people at large are not a fan of the pricing. Other US theatre chains have created their green-colored cocktails for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Look Cinemas made the Green Apple Sour with locations in Florida, California, Virginia, and more. The Dr. Philips Center in Orlando used the Sandworm by mixing Vodka, Coconut Rum, blue curacao, pineapple juice, and lemon-lime soda.

The Rochester Broadway Theatre, located in New York, launched its own Beetlejuice cocktail made with Midori, fig vodka, blackberry, and passionfruit. Cringey Entertainment, with locations in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, and other states, served up its Beetlejuice cocktail with melon liqueur, vodka, ginger beer, sour mix, and soda.

Conclusion

As with the first movie, Tim Burton is the director. The movie stars its original cast, which includes Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder. Newcomers such as Jenna Ortega and Justin Theroux also appear in the film. In its opening weekend, the movie grossed $11 million at the box office and generated $52 million in ticket sales in its second-weekend run.
