Avengers: Doomsday Unleashed: The Incredible Cast for 2026

Avengers: Doomsday Announcement at 2024 Comic-Con

Avengers: Doomsday is the next big superhero team-up film set to release in May 2026. It is replacing “Avengers: Kang Dynasty after Marvel fired Jonathan Majors due to his domestic violence conviction. With Deadpool & Wolverine hitting theatres and recent announcements at the San Diego Comic-Con, it has been an eventful week for Marvel Studios.

The Studio had two major presentations recently: One in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Com, where the Earth shook at a fan-favorite actor’s return to the MCU, and the other was a panel at D23. The Studio showcased announcements and first looks from upcoming films and shows.

What Do We Know About Avengers: Doomsday so Far?

Marvel confirmed that the film will shift gears from Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Like the four predecessors, Avengers: Doomsday is expected to pack Marvel’s best heroes against their biggest threat. Even though some may doubt that Endgame’s success can be replicated, Marvel will do its best to challenge it through Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Along with confirming the titles for the next two Avengers movies, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that the Fantastic Four cast will appear in both. The Russo brothers will also return to direct the movies. While the film won’t be released until 2026, what is certain is that Doomsday will begin to conclude the Multiverse Saga before Secret Wars brings it to an end in 2027.

While many cast members from the previous Avengers films are expected to return for the next big team-up, there will also be some new faces. The massive success of the last Avengers film was due to its large cast and the conclusion of the Infinity Saga. Considering Endgame’s success in terms of casting, Avengers: Doomsday is likely to follow suit with a large cast of heroes.

Marvel Studios shook the comic book movie world by announcing that Robert Downey Jr. would play Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. His new role marks his second outing in the MCU after leading the franchise from 2008 to 2019, playing Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Downey’s Doom is expected to be the main antagonist for Avengers: Doomsday as he battles against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The question is if Doom will be Tony Stark in another alternate universe, especially if he appears in Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Anthony Mackie – Sam Wilson/Captain America

Anthony Mackie looks more than ready to take his place as one of the leading Avengers with his role as Sam Wilson/Captain America. This comes after his 2021 outing in The Falcon and The Winter Solider and his debut standalone film, Captain America: Brave New World.

Regardless of how his battles with villains like the Red Hulk, the Serpent Society, and the Leader play out, Wilson is expected to have a big role in the next Avengers team-up films. He will have to learn how to be a leader, like Steve Rodgers was before him.

Sebastian Stan and Florence Pugh

For Thunderbolts, several MCU characters will return for that film, as well as Avengers: Doomsday. Sebastian Stan debuted as Bucky Barnes in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. After his apparent fall to his death, Bucky was taken captive by Hydra and turned into the Winter Soldier. He was an assassin, though he has broken free from this conditioning after Captain America: Civil War.

Following appearances in Black Widow and Hawkeye, Florence Pugh is expected to reprise her role as Yelena Belova. She was teased to have a big part in the movie when it was titled Kang Dynasty. After an understanding of Natasha Romanoff’s death in Avengers: Endgame, Yelena could take on her sister’s spot.

Fantastic Four Cast

The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal will suit up as the MCU’s Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in Fantastic Four: First Steps. He will be the fourth actor to play the character in live action after Ioan Gruffudd, Miles Teller, and John Krasinski previously held the role. With his status as the “smartest man alive,” Reed will have mastered his powers by the time Doomsday comes around.

Vanessa Kirby will play Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman in First Steps, following in Jessica Alba’s and Kate Mara’s footstepsHer appearance as the character in her solo film and Avengers: Doomsday comes after speculation that she would play the Invisible Woman. Sue’s relationship with Reed looks to be front and center, as they are deeply in love.

Additionally, The Bear star Ebon-Moss Bachrach will return to the MCU as Ben Grimm/The Thing, following Michael Chiklis and Jamie Bell. It will be his second role with the franchise after playing David Lieberman/Micro in Season 1 of The Punisher on Netflix.

Joseph Quinn will play Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, the third actor to play the character after Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan. The casting comes shortly after Evans reprised the character for a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. Quinn’s hero will surely bring his fiery attitude to protect his family against Downey’s archvillain Doom.

Conclusion

Fans will have to wait and see for more official news on the rest of the cast. Since its announcement, Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be another massive MCU team-up. Avengers: Doomsday will hit the big screens on May 1, 2026.
