Avengers 5 may have gotten a revelation of significant death in the latest trailer of Deadpool and Wolverine, the MCU’s only film for 2024. The Avengers movies are the bread and butter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Every single Avengers film from the studio has earned over $1 billion at the box office worldwide, with the latest team-ups Infinity War & Endgame at $2 billion.
However, things are different, as no Avengers films exist for Phases 4 and 5. Avengers 5 & Avengers: Secret Wars are set to arrive in Phase 6. The MCU has faced immense criticism from fans since Phase 4 came along. Thankfully, Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars can hopefully quell those criticisms.
Avengers: Endgame featured a cinematic moment of a significant sacrifice: Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man dying to save the universe from Thanos. Now, the latest trailer of Deadpool and Wolverine may have teased a new sacrifice for the next Avengers movie.
What Was The Avengers 5 Easter Egg?
Both trailers of Deadpool and Wolverine have smashed records for Marvel, with fans discovering interesting easter eggs and returning characters. There have been rumors of several characters appearing in the multiverse film, especially some Fox Marvel characters. With the multiverse saga culminating in Avengers 5 and 6, it’s no secret that fans are excited for the MCU’s only film of 2024.
Along with the two trailers, there have been some footage fans haven’t seen yet. Deadpool and Wolverine footage was revealed in Marvel’s 2024 CinemaCon. One part of the footage revealed Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in a small cameo role.
Thor mourns a seemingly lifeless Deadpool in the footage, with half of Deadpool’s mask ripped off. The sequence was on one of TVA’s monitors, and Paradox tells Wade Wilson that he wasn’t supposed to see it. Paradox explains that the sequence happens in the “distant future.”

Could The Sequence Take Place in Avengers 5?
If that’s the case, it could make sense that Deadpool would die in Thor’s arms at some point in Avengers 5 Secret Wars. Paradox’s statement suggests that the sequence is inevitable or one of many possible outcomes. However, since Kang isn’t confirmed for Secret Wars, it is safe to speculate that the scene occurs in Avengers 5.
Tony Stark’s dark visions in Avengers: Age of Ultron paid off in many ways and came true in some instances; the same could happen for Deadpool and Wolverine. Deadpool’s fourth-wall breaks have led to the most hilarious moments in superhero movies. It remains to be seen if that could continue working in the long term; however, one could say it can since the MCU tends to have some comedy in their projects.
Deadpool and Wolverine will see the TVA recruit Wade Wilson, with him seeing different realities and possibly visiting some in the film. Fans will also see Hugh Jackman suit up as Wolverine once again. Avengers 5 will hit theatres on May 1, 2026.
