WB Launches Official Johnny Cage IMDb Page Ahead of Mortal Kombat 2
Warner Bros. launches a fake Johnny Cage IMDb page as part of its viral push for Mortal Kombat 2, giving fans a first look at Karl Urban’s take on the iconic fighter. The page lists Karl Urban (The Boys, The Lord of the Rings) as Cage, complete with an in-universe bio, credits, and cheeky nods to his fictional film career. This stunt marks a fun and meta way to hype up the sequel and get fans buzzing ahead of the movie’s release, as marketing ramps up for what’s expected to be one of the most explosive fighting game adaptations yet.
Johnny Cage Hit the Stage
If you know anything about Cage, he’s been a long-time supporting character in the MK series of video games and movies. If you check out his IMDB page, you will see what movies he has starred in, such as ‘Uncaged Fury’, ‘A Cage is Born’, ‘Center Cage 2: Turn It Off’, ‘Ice Cage 2: Meltdown’, and ‘Bonnie and Cage’. If you notice, some titles are parodies of real movies like ‘Ice Age: Meltdown’, ‘A Star is Born’, and ‘Bonnie and Clyde’. A Cage Match Is Coming
The inclusion of this fan favorite character is a breath of fresh air to this series, seeing has a lot of people were rubbed the wrong way when he wasn’t featured in the first Mortal Kombat (2021) movie. Urban, having action star experience, will have to channel his inner with the many one-liners that Cage is famous for, maybe including some from the original MK video game from 1995. With the release of the character’s IMDB page comes an announcement of the first trailer of MK 2 (2025) and a new poster, which was posted on the creator Ed Boon’s X page.
Mortal Kombat 2 (2025) is set to be released on October 24th, 2025, and stars Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, along with Jessica McNamee, Ludi Lin, Lewis Tan, Josh Lawson, Mehcad Brooks, and a jam-packed cast.
