Rick and Morty spinoff

Upcoming Rick and Morty Spinoff Stars Popular Character

A brand-new Rick and Morty spinoff is coming to Adult Swim! To recap, Rick and Morty is a highly popular adult animated science fiction series. It showcases the chaotic adventures of a genius scientist and his grandson.

Of course, their escapades have led them to tangling with various characters. Now one of the most popular is taking the starring role in this upcoming show. Ready to find out who the lucky individual stepping into the spotlight is?

The Rick and Morty Spinoff Star

The character starring in this approaching Rick and Morty spinoff is . . . President Curtis! As the name suggests, he’s the United States president within the franchise. He first appeared as an ally to the duo when the Earth was in danger. But they disregarded his authority afterward, thus turning him into an often-petty freenemy. Nevertheless, he’s considered a popular favorite amongst the Rick and Morty fandom.

The Announcement and Current Information

The Rick and Morty spinoff came to light at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego. And the reveal came with an unexpected appearance by Keith David, who voices President Curtis. The best part is that it occurred during the franchise’s panel.

As for the spinoff itself, it’s supposedly going to be titled President Curtis. It’ll feature the titular protagonist and his staff tackling issues that Rick bypasses. Including David, the show’s cast will include Jim Rash and Stephanie Beatriz. With franchise showrunners Dan Harmon and James Siciliano as co-creators and executive producers.

David further expressed that it’s a dream to explore more of his character’s world. He even said he cannot wait for fans to see the Rick-less chaos. And we’ll get to see it either in late 2026 or early 2027.

Final Thoughts

This Rick and Morty spinoff starring the franchise’s U.S. president sounds genuinely interesting. It’d be interesting to see the titular character get adventures without Rick. And there’s a chance the show’s events would make some interesting future interactions between them.

But above all, I’m excited to see another cartoon with Keith David at the helm. I’ve been a fan of his since I watched his work on Disney’s Gargoyles. And I love him in Hazbin Hotel, in which he stars alongside Stephanie Beatriz. Unfortunately, this spinoff won’t premiere on Adult Swim until early 2027 at the very latest. Here’s hoping it makes its debut later next year instead.
