The line is still hauntedโ€”and yes, someoneโ€™s picking up. If you thought the first film was creepy, the sequel cranks up the static with more ghostly calls and โ€œwhy are you answering that phone?!โ€ moments. Itโ€™s horror with a retro twist, and the trailerโ€™s already serving vintage chills and goosebumps. Silence your cell (unless itโ€™s cursed) and prepare to scream like itโ€™s 1985.

New Movie Releases: Good Fortuneย – Rated R

Aziz Ansari assembles a cosmic comedy dream teamโ€”think spiritual chaos meets celebrity charisma. With a cast that practically glows with star power, this Lionsgate release blends metaphysical mishaps and existential laughs into one karmic rollercoaster. Itโ€™s the kind of film that makes you question your life path while laughing at itโ€”and yes, itโ€™s probably more enlightening than your last meditation app.

New Movie Releases: Grow– Rated PG

This oneโ€™s basically autumn in cinematic formโ€”think cozy sweaters, golden leaves, and a whole lot of pumpkin drama. Set in the self-proclaimed Pumpkin Capital of the World, the story follows a no-nonsense farmer and her wildly imaginative niece who may or may not have a magical bond with plants. Toss in a talking pumpkin (yes, really), some small-town rivalry, and a whole lot of heart, and youโ€™ve got a family film thatโ€™s equal parts whimsical and warm.

Itโ€™s not spooky seasonโ€”itโ€™s snuggly season. So skip the jump scares and lean into the leafy feels. This oneโ€™s made for cider-sipping, blanket-wrapping, feel-good movie nights.

New Movie Releases: The Mastermind – Rated R

Kelly Reichardt is back with a heist film that trades explosions for existential dreadโ€”and itโ€™s glorious. Set in a sleepy Massachusetts suburb, the story follows J.B. Mooney, a down-on-his-luck dad who decides to moonlight as an art thief. Heโ€™s got a plan, a crew, and a museum full of temptation. What could possibly go wrong? (Spoiler: everything.)

With a cast stacked like a gallery wallโ€”Alana Haim, Gaby Hofmann, Hope Davis, and moreโ€”this is a slow-burn caper thatโ€™s less Oceanโ€™s Eleven, more โ€œwhat if your uncle tried to rob the Met after watching too much PBS.โ€ Itโ€™s clever, textured, and just the right amount of unhinged

New Movie Releases: Urchin – Rated – R

Although originally released last week, the Urchin is getting its wider release in the US theaters this Friday, October 17, 2025. Urchin is not your average redemption arcโ€”itโ€™s a full-blown descent into the beautifully bizarre. A young man living rough on the streets of London gets a shot at turning things around, but instead of a clean comeback, heโ€™s swept into a surreal spiral that feels more fever dream than fairy tale.

Directed by Harris Dickinson and starring Frank Dillane with the emotional range of a live wire, Urchin is gritty, hypnotic, and just the right amount of unhinged. Think street grime meets art house weirdness, with a dash of โ€œwhat did I just watch?โ€ energy.

Perfect for viewers who like their character studies cracked, raw, and wrapped in mystery, this is one of the new movie releases that is a must!

Final Thoughts

Letโ€™s be realโ€”this weekโ€™s new releases and the slate is a cinematic buffet for the emotionally adventurous. Youโ€™ve got horror that whispers through the wires, comedy that questions your chakras, family drama with root vegetables, art thefts that feel like therapy, and a redemption story that forgot the GPS.

Itโ€™s messy. Itโ€™s moody. Itโ€™s magnificent. And if you didnโ€™t find something to obsess over, you might need to recalibrate your movie-loving soul.

Now go forth, watch boldly, and remember: the weirder the plot, the louder the popcorn crunch, and enjoy the adventures these new movie releases bring about.
