Insidious 6 Confirms Lin Shaye and Amelia Eve for Next Summer’s Spine-Chilling Sequel
Insidious 6 is the forthcoming film in a franchise – the brainchild of Saw creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell – that has served Blumhouse well since 2010. The fifth installment, 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door, had the biggest financial returns in the series’s history, so there’s no mystery as to why a new film is now in the works. At present, neither a title nor any story outline has been made public for this film, but recently the names of two starring cast members have been announced.
An Established Insidious Star

The first actor named in connection with Insidious 6 should come as no surprise. She is Lin Shaye, who has been essential to this franchise since the original installment. Shaye has appeared in every previous Insidious movie as Elise Rainier, the psychic and paranormal investigator who has dedicated her life to combating the demonic activity that gives the franchise its sinister, dramatic thrust.
The fact that she’s been such a perennial cast member for the franchise is rather startling, considering that the original film ended with Elise’s violent death at the hands of the possessed Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson). In the two sequels – 2013’s Insidious: Chapter 2 and The Red Door – Elise appears as a ghost and in flashbacks, while the third and fourth installments are both prequels. Since it’s not known at this time which of these categories Insidious 6 will fall into, it’s impossible to say in what capacity Shaye’s character will show up.
A Newcomer to the Franchise
The other cast member known to be starring in Insidious 6 is Amelia Eve. Eve is best known for starring in Mike Flanagan’s gothic horror miniseries The Haunting of Bly Manor, and for playing the real-life TV personality Kay Robertson in the 2023 Christian drama The Blind. Since Insidious 6 will mark her introduction to this horror franchise, it’s anyone’s guess at this point what kind of role and character she will play.
Production Breakdown – What We Know
The producers of Insidious 6 have all been around (in a producing capacity or otherwise) since the inception of the franchise: Jason Blum, James Wan, Leigh Whannell, and Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli. The director and co-writer will be Jason Chase, who previously directed the Peacock horror series The Girl in the Woods in 2021. Insidious 6’s other writer will be David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, whose impressive screenwriting pedigree in the horror genre includes Orphan and three films in the Conjuring series – another juggernaut property of both James Wan and Blumhouse.
Filming for Insidious 6 began on September 15 in Australia, and the film is slated for release on August 21 of next year.
