Books Meet Film Adaptations

Film Adaptations: Blockbuster International Bestsellers Coming Soon

Film adaptations of bestselling books and novels are a common sight in theaters nowadays. They first appeared in the late 1890s and now comprise half of the movie industry. Everything, from children’s stories to serious literature, has been adapted into a theatrical film. And it’s clear to everyone that they are not stopping any time soon.

In this article, we’ll explore five future film adaptations of international bestsellers. There’s a chance you might recognize at least one of these literary pieces. If not, that’s fine, and maybe this list will encourage you to check them out.

5. “The Pilgrimage” (Paulo Coelho)

Published in 1987, “The Pilgrimage” is one of Paulo Coelho’s earlier novels. It recounts his personal journey towards spiritual fulfillment on the way to Santiago de Compostela. And Netflix Brazil is bringing it to life as a film adaptation. Additionally, Migdal Filmes is producing the feature with Vicente Amorim directing it.

4. “Last Night in Montreal” (Emily St. John Mandel)

“Last Night in Montreal” comes to us from international bestselling author Emily St. John Mandel. The story tells of a young man chasing his wayward girlfriend to Montreal, Canada. It’s coming to the big screen, and Natalia Leite is confirmed to be the director. And the screenplay is being handled by Semi Chellas and Mandel herself.

3. “Flesh” (David Szalay)

David Szalay’s sixth book, “Flesh,” presents the life and times of an adventurous Hungarian man. Incredible moments, such as his time in the army, come to light. Handling this future flick are well-known studios House Productions, BBC Film, and Access. And Szalay has agreed to contribute to the screenplay any way he can. There’s also talk that they’re signing on distinguished writer-director ฤฐlker ร‡atak, though nothing is confirmed.

2. “No Place To Be Single” (Felicia Kingsley)

“No Place To Be Single,” by Felicia Kingsley, is a romantic comedy about renewed love. This bestselling Italian novel centers on a Tuscan vintner named Elisa Benetti. Her world ends up upside down when a childhood friend returns, and they begin reconnecting. The film adaptation will feature a wide cast and premiere on Prime Video in 2026.

1. “Traveller’s Hell” (Osamah Almuslim)

A fantasy-horror story, Osamah Almuslim’s “Traveller’s Hell” tells of a highway that makes people disappear. The Middle East‘s largest broadcaster, MBC Studios, is overseeing the adaptation process of this tale. And rising director and co-writer of Netflix’s “Whispers,” Hana Al-Omair is set to guide it. Also, Almuslin will adapt his original work into a script.

Final Thoughts on These Film Adaptations

These future film adaptations of international bestselling novels honestly sound interesting. I wouldn’t mind seeing the “Traveller’s Hell” since it seems like my cup of tea. And Kingsley’s “Last Night in Montreal” sounds like an intriguing tale to experience. My only issue would be to find a way to watch them.

Regardless, I can see these eventual flicks entertaining anyone who sees them. Especially those who are fans of the original literary works. Let’s hope they do them justice, or there could be some serious ‘dissatisfaction.’ The only way to know for sure is to watch them when they finally release.
