5 Iconic TV Theme Songs You’ll Never Forget

TV theme songs can stick with you for the rest of your life. Whether it’s a theme from a favorite childhood show or a more recent obsession, a good TV theme song lingers in your head for long after the show goes off the air, and hearing it again can make you think of the good times you had watching the show. Here are five iconic TV theme songs you’ll never forget.

Themes We Love To Never Forget

1. DuckTales

Whether it’s the original version or the version for the 2017 remake, this tune will have you tapping your webbed feet, not to mention that it will stay in your head for hours. I dare say that many people remembered the theme song better than the cartoon itself (not that the cartoon wasn’t great, though). Thanks to the remake, the song can bring back fond memories of watching Disney cartoons for two generations.

2. Friends

Admit it, hearing this TV theme song gives you the warm fuzzies. The song not only sends you back to the iconic nineties sitcom, but it also takes you to the nineties in general. It carries a precious message of friendship and steadfastness during times of hardship, which is something we all need in these divisive times. This might be one of the most feel-good TV theme songs to ever exist.

3. Kim Possible

The 2000’s Disney cartoon about a teenager who frequently saves the world has one of the most awesome theme songs of all time, hands down. It gets you pumped to dance, sing along, or perhaps try saving the world. It automatically sends the message that Kim is not someone to be messed with. Sadly, this great show might be called “woke” if it came out now, due to featuring an unabashedly feminist lead character, but even the anti-woke people can’t deny that it has a great theme song.

4. Game of Thrones

Not every awesome TV theme song needs to have lyrics. Case in point, the opening theme to Game of Thrones manages to be epic and iconic without a single word sung. Paired with the unique visuals of the Westeros locations rising out of the map, it prepares the audience to be whisked away to a fantasy world where nothing is safe. The tune became so iconic that it was even reused for the sequel series, House of the Dragon.

5. Sesame Street

Go ahead, it’s okay to admit that you started singing those familiar lyrics as soon as you read the words “Sesame Street.” Even though the song was written over fifty years ago, it will remain forever timeless. Children of multiple generations have been singing along to this TV theme song, and it will probably be charming countless generations to come. So, can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?

Obviously, I couldn’t fit all the iconic TV theme songs in this list, but there are definitely other songs that have reached iconic status. Next time you watch your favorite TV show, think about how the opening theme song sets the mood and gets you excited to visit your old friends. You’ll likely gain a new appreciation for these beloved TV theme songs.
